About this location
The Valais region
The Swiss Alps offer fantastic holidays and plenty to do in summer as well as winter.
Apart from world class skiing , the Valais region has a Mediterranean climate in summer and benefits from 300 days sunshine per year. Lake Geneva is 45 minutes away ; for a cultural tour Martigny offers the Pierre Giadda Foundation with its Roman Museum; at the other extreme for the children there is Happyland , Switzerlands largest theme park 30 minutes away ; Waterworld is fun for all and there is a superb golf course at Crans Montana 30 minutes from the chalet .
Haute Nendaz is a year round resort with plenty to see and do in summer as well as winter.
It is at the centre of the Four Valleys ski area , one of only seven ski areas worldwide to hold 5 stars of excellence. There are 412km of pistes and 92 lifts giving access to snow parks for children; steady pisted skiing amongst trees with stops at gorgeous characterful mountain restaurants through to extensive off piste - there is something for everyone .
The 4 Valleys traditionally benefit from good snow due to their height and Nendaz further benefits from reliable snow because it is north facing .The first cable up from Nendaz rises to Tracouet at 2200m which houses a superb children's snow park area. There is a large restaurant at Tracouet and adult skiing is available directly from here across the whole resort which has a huge range of slopes and restaurants for everyone. Heading to the highest point of the ski area, one climbs to Mont Fort at 3300m ( 4th picture) from which it is possible to ski off into the back bowl for conditions as challenging off piste as the most hardened skier could wish for.
The region benefits from 300 days sunshine every year and as well as the activities in The Valais region , Haute Nendaz offers a multitude of activities from 250 km of mapped hiking trails and 98 km along the bisses water tributaries to the Rhine below , 200 km of mountain bike trails ; canyoning ; paragliding; kickboarding ; swimming , tennis , spas, through a packed schedule of activities as helpfully set out on the www.nendaz.ch website. Nendaz is large enough to offer a full choice of restaurants apres ski , shops and sports , but small enough to retain a family friendly resort charm.

"Wonderful chalet with amazing views"
The chalet is amazing and the views are to match. Bedrooms and kitchen are fully equiped and the property manager Nicole does an amazing job to help and make you feel welcome. The drive up from the valley is long, Haute Nendaz is packed with tourists but once you're in the challet all that is easily forgotten.
Would definitely repeat!

"FABULOUS CHALET WITH AWESOME VIEW"
A well planned chalet which caters to one and all - minute details have been looked into and facilities provided to suit all ages. Approach is slightly diificult for the elderly without a car.. We were very lucky to get cold weather in the month of May, including snowfall. A MEMORABLE STAY!
Had the hot tub been operational, it would have added to the good time we spent in the chalet. PATRICK SCHLURP and his wife were of immense help, a speacial thanks to both of them.

"Chalet Wildhorn: A hidden germ in Haute Nendaz"
We stayed in Chalet Wildhorn for one week late February and I cannot recommend it enough. Beeing two families with three young children, and having rented a couple of other chalets in Haute Nendaz in the past, we found chalet Wildhorn the best choice we could have made in the area. From the brilliant check-in service, to the spectacular views, the convenient layout, the standing decoration, the comfortable beds, the beautiful bathrooms, everything is carefully appointed by the wonderful owners to make you feel at home, and to accommodate a perfect vacation in the mountain. We can't wait to come back next season!

"Chalet Wildhorn, Nendaz - a wonderful holiday experience"
We have just returned from a week away at Chalet Wildhorn in Haute-Nendaz, Switzerland, where we celebrated my 40th Birthday with a group of invited friends. The chalet sleeps 12 comfortably with 6 ensuite double rooms. The open plan living/dining areas are true to the website pictures, and allow guests not only the opportunity to take in the most magnificent view, but also an opportunity to socialise without anyone feeling excluded, especially whilst preparing meals.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are nicely appointed and the family room is good if you have children in the group.
The open plan fire place in the lounge is also great for post ski day warm up, and post dinner drinks, but beware the price of wood when purchased from the local supermarkets. Speaking of local supermarkets, these are well stocked and offer a good range of products.
We arranged to bring our own chalet hosts (both chefs by training), and both were very impressed by the range and quality of the kitchen appliances.
The chalet is located above the village, and although not the easiest assess route, once we had mastered the art of putting on snow chains (a must), we did not have any problems with getting in or out of the driveway. I think one must appreciate that in Winter this is always going to be something to take into account (especially after some of the heaviest snowfalls since the 60's).
The resort itself favours the more seasoned skier, with very little available for the novice. That said we had 6 first time/ newby skiers in our group. All took advantage of the lessons available through the ski schools, and by the end of the week had mastered the blue runs in the area. We also ventured to Thyon and Siviez during the week. Siviez a must see on a clear day. We took the lifts all the way up to the top of Mont Fort and it was stunning. The black and red runs in this area are definitely for the experienced skier.
Our more seasoned skiers also took advantage of the ski in/ ski out from the chalet.
We did not venture out in the evenings, but the resort does have a number of restaurants and bars/clubs. You can walk to and from the chalet into town, although this is about a 30 minute uphill return journey.
In summary, this will be a holiday that our group will talk about for many years to come. Besides the non stop banter within the group, what also made the whole experience unforgettable was the location and the accommodation.

"Beautiful, But Hard to Reach"
I loved this chalet. The open floor plan was stunning. The views were incredible. And the owner, Julian, was a pleasure to work with. But, for us, the chalet wasn't worth the transportation hea… More
The week of Laura's booking saw other resorts such as Zermatt completely cut off as a village for a week and Ischgl was only accessible by helicopter, so sadly I think other skiiers may have had tougher transportation issues.
We built the chalet in Haute Nendaz for some of the most reliable snow in Europe for skiing , half way up one of Europe's highest mountains. Laura's party were largely beginner skiiers nervous of skiing in and out of the chalet in the heavy snow and their week was exceptional - as Laura noted the comment from our neighbours.
I am delighted that the party loved the chalet and believe that in any week in the previous 3 seasons that we have operated they would have been very happy indeed - we had a group in the 3rd week of April last year delighted that they were still able to ski !
I am grateful for the kind comments about my attempts to help from the other side of the world but feel that I have to say a word in recommendation of our chalet service company, MCS. I have been delighted with their service as we have always found that they go the extra mile and we have never had a complaint about them in 3 years. I can only guess that in such extreme conditions they struggled to provide 100% service to all chalet clients. I am relieved that the chef that MCS provided to prepare dinners in chalet went down well with Laura's group so at least there was a happy end to each day.

"Outstanding luxury ski chalet"
Chalet Wildhorn is perched high on a steep hillside, with a triple-storey picture window giving a breathtaking view over the valley below. The main living area, comprising an enormous lounge area and a mezzanine kitchen and dining area has a stunning interior design, with high ceilings with massive wooden beams and floors in polished wood and natural stone, complemented by interesting rugs. The centrepiece is a superb stone fireplace with a ventilation system that ensures a roaring open fire. The bedrooms have beds with top-quality matresses and stylish soft furnishings, while the en-suite bathrooms continue the modern wood and stone design theme. The ski slopes are a five minute walk away for skiers of intermediate ability and upwards - alternatively the main ski lift is three minutes drive away. I can't wait to go back!
