The Lazio region

Nemi is one of the best preserved towns of the Castelli Romani together with Castel Gandolfo. Nemi is on nearly 600 m and the climate in the summer is pleasant and many Romans are going there to have some fresh air when it is too hot in Rome.

Nemi is full of historical sites; for example the Sanctuary of Diana, the Godgess of the wood and fertility. The crater lake where Caligula built the famous ships for worship Diana, sunken after his death 41AD and taken up of Mussolini. Unfortunately they were destroyed during the II world war. But today you can visit the museum with interesting models of the ship.

Nemi

Nemi is famous for the strawberry from the woods and since the beginning of the last century there is the "Sagra delle fragole" a strawberry festival the first Sunday in June, but today you can eat strawberry during the whole year.
