Samyama
About the home
Samyama is situated on the beach in a garden setting. The house was designed to be light and airy with doors and windows 11 feet high. Wake up to the sound of the waves and the early morning birds' chorus.
Samyama will not disappoint you. One enters through tall majestic doors into a marble foyer where the afternoon sun streams through the magnificent stainless steel and glass dome above, your eyes are drawn to the mahogany staircase curving its way up and you sense all tension melting away.
The large sitting room with cool marble floor opens on to the veranda from which you can watch the fisher men bringing in their catch at midday or luxuriate in the stunning sun sets.
Samyama offers you luxury, total seclusion and tranquillity. Your experience here will revive, restore, and nourish you. No hawkers on the beach, so you can go for long walks, just meditating on nature. Our beach is wild and exhilarating, filling you with energy, and excitement. There is an array of wild life, so if you are keen on nature especially birds, remember to pack your binoculars.

BookThe Western Province region
Negombo is on the westernside of Sri Lanka. The west coast has an enormous natural reef protecting the coast line . It was this reef that saved this area from the disastrous consequences from the Tsunami in 2004.
Negombo is conveniently located only 15 km from Sri Lanka's International Airport. Negombo Beach was Sri Lanka's first beach resort and is an ideal place for your holiday: It offers wide beaches, many water sport facilities, excellent restaurants, well stocked supermarkets.
Used by the Portuguese, Dutch, and British as the main export harbour for cinnamon, you can still see many historical colonial buildings such as the fort which is today used as the jail The area was/is heavily influenced by the Catholic church and 80% of the population in this area are Christians including the Mormons and Jehovah witness.
There are many ways to explore Negombo but one of the most recommendable ones is by travelling along the many canals which connects Negombo lagoon and the sea.
Sri Lanka's tropical location ensures perennially high temperatures, with monthly averages between 72° F (22° C) and 92° F (33° C) in the lowlands. In the Central Highlands, higher altitudes account for lower temperatures, with monthly averages between 44° F (7° C) and 71° F (21.6°). The monsoon season differs from the east to the West. The best time to visit the West is October to March. The wind comes from the north and is refreshing
The seas are calm.
The Negombo area
The population in Negombo, being mostly Christians the festivals in the area are celebrated at Xmas, and Easter.
ACTIVITIES:
DEEP SEA FISHING
Sri Lanka is much admired for its multitude of sub-aquatic life. Its unspoiled sea and fishing zones hold an abundance of game fish for the keen angler. Species of Marlin, Sail Fish, Wahoo, Spanish Mackerel, Giant Trevallie, Bonito, Dorado, Queen Fish, Barracuda and tuna make this beautiful Island second to none when it comes to sport fishing.
WATER SKI ING
The water-ski camps in Negombo cater for all water skiers (slalom, tricks and barefoot) From beginners to professionals, from young to the still young at heart, singles, couples and families..
WIND SURFING
Negombo is more suitable for windsurfers of grade 4 and up. The shore break there in the months January – March requires some experience. On good days you’ll get up to 6 beaufort with an average of 4-5 beaufort.
For windsurf equipment rental, windsurf lessons and/or windsurf packages please contact us
KITE SURFING
The main spot for kite surfing in Sri Lanka is in Negombo. One of the factors for this are the nearby factories of NORTH KITEBOARDING, FAITH KITEBOARDING or and CARVED.Here we have perfect wind conditions for kite boarding. Especially in the months January – March when the NW trade winds will provide the necessary power. Over a length of 5 km, the beach of Negombo is wide enough for take off and landing.
For kite surfing equipment rental, kite surfing lessons and/or kite surfing packages please contact us
EXPLORING THE FISH MARKET
Enjoy watching the old world fishing crafts like the outrigger canoes and the catamarans bringing a variety of marine fishes like seers, skipjacks, pomfrets and amber-jacks. In the lagoon lobsters, crabs, and prawns are caught and served as fascinating delicacies in the restaurants.
YOGA,MEDITATION AND AYURVEDA
At Samyama we offer Yoga asana, meditation, and Ayurveda massage. Enquire about the 5 days yoga retreat for serious yoga students or Asana and meditation daily or as required
SAFARIS
We arrange wildlife safaris to the various wildlife sanctuaries located in different parts of Sri Lanka.
240 species of butterflies, elephants, leopards, sloth bear, deer, reptiles, amphibians and an amazing number of other animals are the background for our exciting wildlife safaris.
RELIGIOUS/HISTORICAL/CULTURAL TOURS.
Samyama offers 3- 7day tours to explore the majestic ancient cities of Anuradhapura & Polonnaruwa, the UNESCO world heritage site at Sigiriya (often referred to as the 8th wonder of the world)- a towering rock fortress with a fascinating history. The ancient cave temples at Dambulla are also worth a visit. We also include an afternoon safari in Minneriya National Park, where elephants roam freely. Or you can visit the temple of the tooth in Kandy (where there is the relic of the Buddha's tooth ) Surprisingly.the Buddha found enlightment in Sri Lanka not India
BIRD WATCHING
Not only for serious bird spotters - in the National Parks and lagoons on our Sri Lanka Bird Watching Tours you not only see the amazing variety of local and migrant birds in Sri Lanka but elephants, leopards, bears, crocodiles, elks and wild boars in their natural habitat, too.
NIGHTLIFE
Sri Lanka is the hot spot in South Asia for the most active nightlife. A part of the Galle Road in Colombo is said to resemble Las Vegas because of the many casinos here.Though gambling is illegal in some South Asian countries and Casinos are hard to come by, Sri Lanka boasts of quite a few of them. These casinos, which are full of life and activity the whole night through, are not allowed to be called casinos. So instead they are called clubs.
SHOPPING:
Negombo is well known for its many gifted and artistic jewellers. You will find good quality jewellery is much cheaper here especially if you are into precious and semi precious gem stones. Gold is mostly 18 to 22 carat gold.
SHOPPING IN COLOMBO.
Holiday makers may also be interested in having a sight seeing tour and shopping trip in Colombo. I mention this because Many western designers have their collection made in Sri Lanka, and the excess from the factories can be bought in 2 shops in Colombo. Shopping in Colombo can save you up to 5 times the price in London, Paris, Milan or Rome.
