The North Wales region

North Wales is a great combination of the family seaside resorts, which extend along its northern coastline and of course the magnificent mountains that make up Snowdonia Nation Park. Also located in this region are the very distinctive Island of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula. So visitors will find a diverse holiday destination that caters for many different types of holidays from the family beach holiday to serious climbing holidays, and lots in between. There are plenty of things to do here; walking, sailing, fishing and many indoor attractions for the children. Wildlife enthusiasts will not be disappointed, with Anglesey and the Lleyn peninsula in particular being rich in diverse mix of habitats.

Fox's Lair Farmhouse is located on a winding lane that snakes above the stunning coastal settlement of Caernarfon. Its majestic castle was built during the reign of the infamous King Edward I and formed part of the chain of castles specially created to subdue forever any thoughts of further Welsh rebellions. This magnificent building is a designated World Heritage Site and a wonderful visitor attraction. Caernarfon town itself has many amenities for tourists including an excellent choice of food and drink outlets, a number of interesting and unusual shops and a redeveloped waterfront area that is brimming with life and vitality. Highly recommended for families with young children is the nearby Greenwood Forest Park which offers a fun-filled day. This region is of course famed for the quality of its walking, climbing and cycling country and no visit to the area would be complete without time spent in the sublime landscapes of the Snowdonia National Park which arguably offers some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK and is a haven for outdoor activities. To the north lies Anglesey- the spiritual heartland of Wales. Another highly recommended destination is a trip to the popular Anglesey Sea Zoo. Those who appreciate fine buildings and gardens should visit the National Trust managed Plas Newydd Country House and Gardens. This interesting attraction enjoys a superb location overlooking the Menai Strait and was the traditional home of the Marquess of Anglesey. To the north lies the picturesque village of Beaumaris and another settlement dominated by a formidable looking castle as is Conwy further along the coast to the east. For a traditional day by the sea there is the friendly holiday town of Llandudno, one of Wales' most iconic coastal resorts. For a complete change of scene why not grab the chance to visit the ‘Emerald Isle' via the ferry departing from Holyhead on Anglesey's west coast?
