Home description

Casa Vacanze Scopeto is a lovely hamlet at the slopes of the "Montagnola Senese", a hilly territory covered with chestnut and oak trees. Marbles of rare beauty were extracted here as from medieval times and were used to embellish some of the most important Italian monuments. Churches and medieval castles are spread around in the surrounding hills. A particular mention goes to the Abbey of San Galgano, an astonishing roofless churchwhere one can visit the world-known sword in the rock.

The hamlet has been entirely renovated and transformed into a cosy, well-kept country residence in the green hills of Tuscany, full of woods. The restoration of the structure was carried out with great care and particular attention was given to every last detail. The complex is made up of the main body of the building, a small outbuidling 20 m away and an independent house, located approx. 80 m down from the complex.

For the lovers of good cooking and excellent wines, the surroundings offer many restaurants where you can taste simple and ancient tuscan recepies cooked with genuine and tasty ingredients, or enotecas where you can taste the best tuscan wines such as Chianti, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, or Brunello di Montalcino.

The Tuscany region

Also a minor Palio horse-race is held in Casole d'Elsa, end of August.

How to get there

Leave the highway A1 at Firenze Certosa and continue on the motorway to Siena. (if you come from Rome or south Italy: leave the A1 at Bettolle, continue towards Siena; in proximity of Siena, continue on the junction-road to Florence; after approx 15 km exit at Colle Val d'Elsa sud).

Exit at Colle Val d'Elsa sud, follow the indications to Grosseto. Leave Colle Val d'Elsa and still continue towards Grosseto. After approx 16 km, you will find the indications to the village "Pievescola" on your left-hand side.

Ignore them and still continue for 1,5 km until you find an iron gate, on your left hand side, with a sign "Casa Vacanze Scopeto". The gate is open, and the road leads at the property after 300 m.
