This recently restored 19th century farmhouse is 1km from the town of Lugnano in Teverina, a charming place 1000 feet above the Tiber River with shops and grocery stores, 15km from Attigliano on the “autostrada” and the main train line from Rome to Florence.
The Villa, which has been renovated in full harmony with the stunning surroundings, has nevertheless kept its original feeling. Antique furnishing and comfort are successfully blended to make our guests feel at home. From the lawns running down to the swimming pool and the terraces surrounding the house, one can relax and enjoy the sunset, the view of the medieval village and the monastery of Saint Francis.
Making the most out of the long summer days, cooking can be done outside on the barbecue and pizzas can be baked using the original country oven while children can play in the fully equipped play-ground
The features of the house and the many nearby medieval walled towns and “città d’arte” as well as the hospitality of the owner and his family, will make your vacation an unforgettable experience.

The Umbria region

We have always lived in Rome and came to Umbria on weekends.
About twelve years ago we decided to move and came to Lugnano in Teverina to live . It was probably the best thing we ever did . Umbria, and this village in particular is such a mysterious region, so close to everything and at the same time so remote and peaceful. In these little villages, people have such a contemplative, in some way ascetic way of life so remarkably different from the rest of Italy. Life is relaxed, and nature is so splendid with unspoilt hills and an abundance of wildlife; plenty of places to visit and excursions to the nearby "citta' d'arte" where history unfolds itself revealing hidden treasures of past medioeval life.

Near Amelia area

From such a strategic location you can reach Florence in one hour and forty-five minutes and Rome in only one hour. From Villa Torricello, within one hour, you can find yourself in Perugia, Bevagna, Assisi,Orvieto and Todi with their gothic cathedrals or Montefalco, where you can admire the beautiful Benozzo Gozzoli frescoes .
For children, we recommend Bomarzo with its "Garden of Monsters", a XVI century amusement park. A must!
and if ever in Terni, there is the tallest waterfall in europe. The "Cascata delle Marmore" thundering down from the incredible height of 165 meters.
If you don't feel like "day tripping" just hop up to Lugnano and visit the Collegiata, a beautiful XII century roman church or loose yourself in the small alleyways and tiny squares from which unexpectedly you come across beautiful panoramas of the tiber valley stretching till the eye can see.
Even visiting nearby Amelia, 10 minute drive, is really full of surprises; the old roman cisterns, the poligonal walls that surround the town (three meter wide slabs dating from V century b.c. ) and the museum.

How to get there

You can fly toLeonardo da Vinci , Rome main airport , or to Rome Ciampino airport -that's where the low cost airlines fly to - then you may wish to rent a car (if by any chance you are coming with Ryan Air they have good rental fares with Hertz) then you get on the freeway (A1)and follow directions for Florence ,exit at Attigliano- is the one after Orte-,right after the toll turn right and follow directions for Lugnano in Teverina.( please also check our web site at : www.globalcomm.it/en/en_torricello/en_dovesiamo.html
