Malta – the very name conjures up thoughts of the George Cross and enough historical sights to keep you busy for a month, however there’s so much more to this little beauty than a fascinating past. These days you’re just as likely to hear about its film locations and nightlife as you are its history and culture. Hollywood epics such as Troy, Gladiator and Alexander were all filmed on the island’s sunny shores. And world famous artist such as Sting, Brian Adams, Tom Jones have graced Malta. But though Malta’s image is changing fast, its breathtaking beauty and English speaking locals remains one of the key ingredients that draws people back year after year. Wherever you go, the island’s eye-popping scenery provides a sigh-inducing backdrop. And as for all that history, with so much of the past still visible today, there’s no wonder it’s known as an open-air museum. Travel back in time to discover Malta’s mysterious prehistory. Retrace the footsteps of St Paul. Or see where the Knights of St John defended Christendom. But Malta is no regular museum. Here life is lived to the full, so be prepared to get stuck into the Mediterranean way of life. Throw yourself into carnivals and village festa’s make the most of the island’s packed calendar of events. If you’re looking for a destination that offers more than just a suntan, Malta will definitely deliver beyond your expectations!
The Naxxar area
Naxxar offers alfresco cafes with good coffee and quaint restaurants that serve the very best in Mediterranean food. Naxxar offers a Holiday experience, where one can experience the real culture and hospitality of the English speaking Maltese and in given its central location is an excellent base to explore the island.
Naxxar is a quaint, relaxed village situated in the heart of Malta, with its most imposing and substantial building being the parish Church, located in the centre of the village along side another historical and most certainly prolific building. Palazzo Perisio, which is one of Malta’s premier heritage attractions that is open to the public to experience alfresco dining at it’s finest in what has to be said one of Malta’s most beautiful gardens at ½ a mile long, here one can wander at will on meandering pathways through the orange grove, surrounded by exotic Mediterranean species, amongst mature and unusual tropical trees, shrubs and impressive fountains. This is a must to visit and probably one that you will visit again and again as the relaxed ambience and sweet garden smells is the perfect remedy to unwind.
It is not easy to determine when Naxxar started to become a village? What is sure is that thousands of years ago, there already existed some form of habitation in Naxxar. This is evident by the caves at Tal-Qattara and at Ta’ San Brinkaw; megalith remains of the Bronze Age period at Tal-Qadi and at Qaliet Marku; the cart ruts which start at Salina up to it-Targa and appear later on near the Ghadira tal-Wej and which are probably of the Bronze Age; Punic tombs at the Naxxar Primary School and it is said also in St George Street and Leli Falzon Street; as well as the Catacombs at Salina and Maghtab.
The famous Mosta Church is situated just over 1 mile away, having the 3rd largest unsupported dome in the world. On the 9th April 1942, the church was nearly destroyed during World War 2. An Axis bomb pierced the dome of the church but, failed to explode. The detonator was removed and a replica bomb is now displayed as a memorial. This Church is visited daily by tourist and for sure it would be disappointing not to go and see the Mosta Dome, whilst in Malta.

I thought I should email and let you know what a great time we had staying at Emy’s house. The house and area are fantastic, peaceful and quiet but easy to get to all of the sights that Malta is known for. Emy is a wonderful owner and helpful all of the time and we really enjoyed his hospitality.
Many thanks for making our holiday a success, we hope the house will stay available as we plan to come again sometime next year with some other friends who are interested in visiting Malta.

Where only a deposit has been paid the balance must be paid 8 weeks prior to the hire commencement date. We will not accept responsibility for cash sent through the post. Electricity will be provided within the rental cost at an allowance of €35.00 per 7 nights stay (€5.00 per day). This is a provision put in place due electricity abuse, you will be provided with electricity cards in addition to the allowance and charged at the end of your stay for any electric cards used. No refund of unused electricity is given.
