The Costa Brava/Catalonia region

Costa Brava represents beautiful clean beaches with transparent waters. Sandy beaches and cliffs shores alternate, where fishing is allowed and fish abundant. Small fisher villages at creeks nearby where life is still calm, particularly in winter and where seafood is a major theme all year long.
Catalonia is in north-eastern Spain and occupies some 34,000.sqkm. Its capital is the city of Barcelona with a metropolitan population of 4.5 million people and is by far the most important centre for business, commerce, art, culture, entertainment, education and scientific research of the region. With the other three major cities as Girona, Tarragona and LLeida, as well as the rural areas, Catalonia is home for 7 million people.
Catalonia's climate is mediterranean, with warm summers (July and August around 30ºC) and pleasant springs and falls (20-25ºC). Wintertime is seldom below the freezing point (excluding the Pirinees mountains where snow sports is a major theme for almost four months) and may well average 5-10ºC.

Navata area

Navata is a small village, at the N-260 road, 12 Km west of Figueres (30.000people) in direction Olot. Nearby Besalú has an historical centre with a church from the XII century. Same applies to the village of Lladó only 3Km from Navata in direction north.

Following the N-260 to Olot (capital of the Garrotxa region and city of painters) higher mountain ranges can be arrived at in the village of Camprodón (1000m). The ski station of Walter 2000 is close by.
To the east of Navata and once past Figueres the seashore is within a distance of some 30Km. There a handful of smaller and larger villages or cities are at reach: Roses, Llançá, L'Estertit, Port de la Selva, Cadaqués (birthsite of the painter Salvador Dalí, his museum may be the main attraction of Figueres).

How to get there

The nearest airport is the Girona airport. Ryanair and other lowcost airlines fly to Girona from the UK. Once in Girona a car rental as AVIS or HERTZ (and others) can be taken at the airport. Follow then links to the highway AP-7 and take the entry in direction France or Girona (north). Continue on AP-7 until exit 4 (Figueres). Follow the sign Figueres and entering the city you will arrive at a ring with a fountain representing a cypress tree. Take the second exit in this ring (the broader street) and follow this route for approx 2 Km until reaching the 4 traffic light. There make a left into the N-260 road in direction OLOT. Follow this road for approx 10 Km and on your right you will be at the entry ramp of the TORREMIRONA GOLF CLUB RESORT. Ask at the gate for VILLA BIRDIE and at the front desk of Villa Birdie ask for your apartment PINO C.
From the airport of Girona to your apartment PINO C there are approx 45 Km.
