Home description
Welcome to our 4 star rated Béarnaise country house with large colourful garden, ideal for fun-packed family holidays. "La Conciergerie" was originally the gate house for the chateau in the small village of Méritein. It stands in the grounds of the chateau, but is now a separate family holiday home. It has three spacious bedrooms that can comfortably sleep up to six adults with cot and small bed available for toddlers and babies. The house is situated in a typically quiet French village, but is only a ten minute walk to Navarrenx, where you'll find several bars, some with live music, restaurants, antique shops, art gallery, artisanal markets, boulangeries, charcuteries, beauty salons and banks. There are tennis courts, a large outdoor swimming pool and petanque area. Every year Navarrenx hosts the 'World Champion Salmon Fishing' competition in the magnificent river, the 'Gave d'Oloron' where you can also try canoeing, rafting and kayaking. If you prefer walking or cycling there are hundreds of kilometres of quiet roads to do both, or cycle off-road on the well marked forest routes.

Guestbook for La Conciergerie
We very much enjoyed our stay in La Conciergerie. Peaceful and impeccably decorated. Beautiful big garden. Neighbours all very friendly. Would certainly recommend it. Many Thanks. Susanna and Kaz, County Durham, September 2008
We have had an excellent holiday in Méritein and we thank Lindy and David for their very warm welcome. Despite the odd day of bad weather, we had very nice visits to Ascain, Laruns, Biarritz, Bayonne, Les Grottes de Kacouhetta, the village of Navarrenx, St Jean Pied-de-Port, etc.....This is a magnificent region of France and we will return again very soon. La Famille Collinet, Paris, July 2007
