Lovingly and thoughtfully renovated, La Maison Paul offers enough to keep you busy for the whole of your stay: swimming pool, tennis court, extensive entertaining and catering areas, a large undercover terrace area with barbecue and garden furniture, table tennis, billiards room and library. All this means relaxing, unwinding and enjoying yourself is hard to avoid.

Kitchen: Cook up a storm in the kitchen fully equipped with Miele appliances: 2 x double ovens, 7-ring induction hob, 2 x full-sized fridges, steam oven, warming drawer, convection microwave and 2 x full full-sized dishwashers to cope with the aftermath. Utility Room: The outdoor kitchen is equipped with two washing machines, a tumble dryer, laundry detergents, iron and ironing board, cleaning products and materials, a drinks fridge, freezer, two ovens and BBQ equipment. Living Rooms: La Maison Paul offers: a spacious double-height lounge with imposing fireplace, a TV room equipped with a large flat-screen television, satellite TV, Blue-ray DVD player, a selection of DVDs and a library well socked with books and board games. Other: 3 dining areas: formal dining room, breakfast room and undercover terrace. All tables comfortably seat 14 people or more.
Remove the mahogany leaves from the formal dining room table and it coverts to a hand-crafted Hamilton 9ft billiards table.

Poolside: In its secluded position the 6x12m salt-chlorinated swimming pool, surrounded by original stone walls and a sun-drenched terrace, offers complete privacy. Sun loungers, an alfresco shower, lilos, games and play equipment a-plenty makes it the ideal spot for keeping the children amused for hours whilst you while away your time soaking up the French sunshine. Terrace: In summer the terrace is the centre of holiday life. Designed and appointed for ease and pleasure, the private and peaceful outdoor living area offers everything you need for summertime entertainment. The spacious undercover dining and BBQ area benefits from a large adjoining fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom, so very little need drag you away from enjoying the outdoors. Entertainment: facilities include a high-quality hard surface tennis court and basketball ring, darts, table-tennis, boules and mountain bikes for excursions.

Conditions

Prices are for the rental of the property and include meet and greet at the house, accommodation, use of all the facilities, bicycles and sports equipment, bedlinen, towels, electricity, heating, logs for the fireplaces and BBQ, WiFi internet access and housekeeping mid-way through your stay. Rentals are on a weekly basis from 15h00 on Saturday to 10h00 the following Saturday, unless specific arrangements have been pre-arranged.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Pyrenees Atlantiques region

La Maison Paul is in the foothills of the Pyrenees, close to the Pyrenees National Park, in which visitors are routinely awestruck by tumbling waterfalls, lush wildflower-meadows, austere glaciers and serene mountain lakes. The area is cradled by the valleys of Aspe and Ossau which house ancient and beautiful pilgrimage routes including the route de Santiago de Compostela. The Atlantic beaches, ever popular with surfers, stretch from San Sebastian in Northern Spain, over the border to the beautiful harbour village of St-Jean-de-Luz , to Biarritz, Bayonne and all the way to Bordeaux.

The Navarrenx / Araujuzon area

This region of France is well-stocked with idyllic local towns and villages, complete with historic architecture and rural charm. Those only a short drive away include the lovely towns of Monein and Lacommande, the centre of the regions wine-producing district and the spa town of Salies de Bearn, whose natural salt deposits have historically attracted royalty for their healing properties. Naverrenx was once integral to strategic occupation of the area and the centuries-old fortifications have been lovingly restored.

By Air: Pau airport 44.29km. Biarritz airport 72.3km. Lourdes airport 90.75km. Bordeaux airport 192.7km. Toulouse airport 223.2km. By train: nearby stations in Orthez, Dax, Pau and Biarrtiz. TGV trains operate daily from Paris Montparnasse to all four stations. Train connections from the UK to Paris Gare du Nord are available using Eurostar, whilst RailEurope now allows passengers to take their own car from Calais to Toulouse.

“The ideal French getaway” What a great find - the house that has it all! You walk in and the luxury and attention to detail are the two things that stand out, but once you settle in you realise that luxury can also mean homely and enjoyable. The rooms are well appointed, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen has definitely been set up with a foodie in mind, there appears to be double of everything and that includes ovens.  Satellite television is available with a library of movies and books to keep you entertained, and if you are feeling more energetic there are even bicycles for you to use. The outside area would be great in summer - unfortunately the weather was not on our side when were there. There is a pool and barbecue area, with a large outside table for those hot summers evenings. We flew into Pau airport, but to be honest it would be just as easy to get to from Biarritz or Lourdes, and that is one of the best things about the location - within an hour you can be skiing in the mountains in winter, or suntanning on the beaches in summer. This is not an area of France that we know well but there was a lot of information at the home about things to do and places to go. The area itself is great to explore, there are a lot of small villages to see but you are always close enough to the bigger centres for evening entertainment.  As with modern travel most airlines allow you to book in online before your departure, and even this was made simpler by having internet connectivity available. This was a very easy holiday - the owners have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing. We will definitely be making a return trip.

“"Magnificent"” La Maison Paul is a wonderful place to stay! To be perfectly honest - the best holiday (of any description) we have ever had, which is an impressive statement considering there were 13 of us! We can all be quick to criticise a rental so it's nice to be able to praise one for a change. From start to finish the whole experience was seamless, from the friendly yet informative French Canadian lady who met us at the front door through to our reluctant departure a week later. And the week itself ? It simply doesn't get any better than La Maison Paul. The attention to detail is the first thing to hit home-you sit there thinking to yourself ''someone has really thought this through properly''. We wanted for nothing all week long - nothing except another week in this haven. The quality of decor and furniture for a rental property is quite staggering. From the beautiful lounge to the modern and superbly equipped kitchen facilities and the luxurious bedrooms. Each day we availed of the swimming pool and BBQ facilities and when the children finally ran out of energy, they were happy to sit in front of the tv and watch dvds from the sizeable collection. The only problem was that because we enjoyed the house and facilities so much, we didn't get to see as much of South West France and Northern Spain as we wanted to. All the more reason to come back next year!!

“A stunning house, excellent for large groups” We booked this house following a recommendation from some friends. We were looking for a large property as there were 3 couples and some younger children. Our expectations were surpassed when we arrived at Maison Paul, it was like nothing we had seen on previous visits to France! Each of the 7 bedrooms (all ensuite) is beautifully decorated and the living areas are all amazing. The quality of the decor and appliances are excellent, with every amenity you could think of! Thankfully we had wonderful weather in May, so we spent most of our time in the gorgeous outdoor living areas. The pool is fab, although it was a little cold in May. There are outdoor shower facilities which is a great idea for children. The house caters very much for foodies, with wonderful cooking equipment and even an outdoor kitchen. It really has to be seen to be believed! We didn't eat out too much as the facilities at the house were so good. We took advantage of the location of this house and had wonderful day trips to San Sebastian, Pau, St Jean de Luz (all by car). The location itself is rural, with beautiful views of the Pyrenees and rolling hills. I cannot recommend this house enough, it was far superior to anything we had rented previously. It is super for a large groups, with generous size living areas and wonderful outdoor space. You can see that is has been lovingly restored and I am sure anyone who visits it will love it too. Stunning!
