The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Pyrenees Atlantiques region
South West France is a wonderful part of the world. We are situated inbetween Biarritz and Pau. This means you can have enjoyable days at the Atlantic beaches (including surfing at Biarritz or St Jean de Luz where you have a thermal health spa on the beach) or be near to the ski resorts (La Pierre St Martin or Gourette, approx 40 minutes away). Last year there was more snow in the Pyrénées than the Alps) in the winter. Lourdes is approx one and a half hours away and is always worth a visit. You can watch the healing parade twice a day,, when they take the patients to bathe them in the holy waters. You can also take a day trip to Spain, with the border not being far away. The Farmhouse is based in a central and ideal location.

Guestbook
Hi Sam We have just returned home this evening and it is great to hear from you. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Farmhouse – it was a brilliant base for exploring the area. The blue book was particularly useful and we took you up on many of your recommendations for day trips. The Petit Train D’Artouste and the little family beach under the Musee de la Mer in Biarritz we our extra special favourites. On the days when we chose not to wander too far, the little tractor and paddling pool came in very handy in keeping the little ones entertained. You have thought about everything and your personal touches really made us feel instantly at home – thank you. Very best wishes, Paul, Val and Archie - September 2008
Thanks Sam The house is great and unbelievably well equipped. It is so nice to find phone chargers, tool kits, etc. Also, it makes a big difference to find the odd useful food item in the cupboards rather than completely bare as in many other self-catering properties. We stayed in Mallorca once and they didn’t even supply a sink cloth. Jack really appreciated all the ride-on toys and different books to read. When he asked for a paddling pool I thought I’d better check if there was one before dismissing it out of hand and lo and behold there was, as well as the sun tent to shade him while he was in it! He had a great time. The bike was great – he cycled all the way to the restaurant on it. Tamsin and family, Kent - September 2008
Hi Sam Thank you for the stay in your lovely farmhouse. You have done a fantastic job renovating it. We had a great time and the skiing was fantastic. I'm amazed how quickly the kids picked it up. Also thanks for organising the food that was a godsend when we arrived. Rachel and family, Surrey - February 2008
Hi Sam A quick e-mail to say how wonderful a trip we have just had to France. The weather was fantastic- clear crisp mornings, perfect for walking, with warm afternoons, perfect for relaxing! We must compliment you on the farmhouse, no detail has been overlooked. It was so well equipped, we wanted for nothing. We do travel quite a bit and have to say that this was the very best self catering accommodation that we have stayed in. We are impressed at how the farmhouse has been renovated so sympathetically - can't wait to see what you do with the barn!! The location of the farmhouse is excellent, with both the coast and the Pyrennes short drives away. For one of us it was a first trip to France, what a wonderful introduction! We will be recommending your farmhouse to friends and family!! Thank you so much for the wine and the baguette, both welcome after a long trip from Cheshire. Regards, Anna
Hi Sam What a lovely farmhouse you have. We absolutely enjoyed the 2 weeks we were there. We were lucky because Navarrenx had their 4 day festival whilst we were at Gurs and the firework display was brilliant. We spent a lot of time in Navarrenx at the Piscine and went to Artouste, twice! The train journey into the mountains was great and we saw some Marmots. On the journey back home we stayed at L'Abbey in Beaugancy. What a wonderful place this was. Would definitely come to Gurs again - hopefully next year and would like to stay again at the farmhouse, will contact you later in the year. Meralin
Dear Sam, Thanks, we had a wonderful holiday and definitely the Farmhouse was our favourite place - things we liked were: The personal touches, the notes from yourself and Alison, all the info on hand seemed to have your voice and so when we left we felt that we wanted to say goodbye to you but you weren't there! The toys for the kids - thanks a million. The DVDs for me and hubby. The fact that the kitchen was very well thought through and equipped. The petite train d'artouste was very memorable. We loved the markets in Navarrenx. The kids loved the walks and little playgrounds. We had a couple of cool drizzly days, the perfect antidote for families coming from summer inthe desert! Philippa
