Home description
This newly converted courtyard is an ideal location for groups of families or friends or just a romantic break away. It is set in a beautiful, rural location but is also very central for touring the many historic sites at Newgrange, Knowth, Kells, Slane, Trim and Tara as well as Dublin. Navan, a large shopping town is 4 miles away and golf, fishing and horse racing are all available locally.
If activity is not your thing, why not try one of our treatments from our on site beauty therapists in our relaxing spa rooms, where we use Dermaogica products. You may find it very hard to drag yourself away from the architecturally designed courtyard where there is a water feature, or from the BBQ area that overlooks the rolling fields of Meath. There is also a playground and boules alley as well as a well equipped Den with TV, DVDs, videos, books, games and toys, a pool table, air hockey and a gym.

The East Ireland / County Meath region
County Meath in known as the Royal County because it was once the seat of The High Kings of Tara. The Hill of Tara is also where St Patrick is said to have preached to the people of Ireland. There is a statue to him there today and a visitors centre. Meath is lettered with many historic sites from the passage tombs at Newgrange which are a world heritage site and predate the pyramids, to trim Castle, dating from the 12th century which is the best example of a Norman Castle in Ireland. Theritage towns of Kells, Slane and Trim are all within easy travelling distance, and the beach is 25 mins away.
Apart from Historic sites, there are many championship golf courses to play, rivers to fish and top class race meetings to attend. The Irish Grand National is held at Fairyhouse only 15 mins away.
County Meath is bordered by Dublin so it is an ideal base for exploring this vibrant city.
Navan / Garlow Cross area
Over the past 10 years, Navan has grown significantly and is the principal town in Co Meath. There are many shops and restaurants, a cinema, a theatre, public swimming pool and several parks to visit. The River Boyne passes through the town centre and there are plans for a boardwalk along it.
Garlow Cross is 4 miles from Navan. It is a small communty area, with a local church and shop and the world famous "O'Connell's Pub" nearby. The Hill of Tara is 2 miles away and there is also an area called Balrath Woods nearby where you can walk or cycle.
How to get there
30 mins from Dublin Airport. 60 mins from Dublin Port. Flights daily from many european cities. Ideally located between the N2 and N3, 4 miles south of Navan. Close to historic sites of Tara, Newgrange, Slane, Kells and Trim. Only 30 miles from Dublin and an ideal base for exploring the East Coast, Dublin and beyond.

Guestbook for Decoy Country Cottages
"Accommodation was second to none, every detail thought of. Great for couples, groups and families" - Dorman and O'Neill, Coallisland, Dungannon, Co Tyrone.
"Accommodation and disabled facilities at The Forge excellent. Mrs Irwin very helpful. The tea rooms at The Hill of Tara is a great place for food and crafts" - Drew, Bonnie and emma Chapman, Glasgow, Scotland.
"Really wonderful in every respect and the sun shone all three days. Newgrange amazing but the less well known Lough Crew near Oldcastle easily as good. Heritage centre in Kells not to be missed" - Mary, Nessa and Debbie, Cornwall, UK.
"My only suggestion for improving decoy Country Cottages is the addition of a fountain in the courtyard so that guests like us could toss in a coin and make a wish to return very soon. Wonderful place" - Margaret and Charlie Capozollo, Pennsylvania. USA
