About the home

The home is equally suited for families as newly-weds looking for a romantic location. Maracajau is ideal for a relaxed sunshine holiday. The condominium is located directly on the beach and with the coral reef providing protection from big waves safe bathing is possible.

The home is well maintained and equipped. The showers have water heaters and towels are provided. Although the cool Atlantic breeze generally provides enough ventilation and cooling all bedrooms have air conditioning. Bed linnen is provided in the wardrobes.
The house is one of 46 detached houses built around a magnificent 104 metres long swimming pool, with wet bar and children's pool at both ends including a children's play area at one end.

The North East Brazil / Rio Grande do Norte region

Best time of year to visit is between November and April. Then the average temp is approx 32C with a cool breeze which is ideal for many leisure activities. Because there is only a very limited amount of industry 60 kilometres away in Natal the quality of air in this region is amongst the best in the world, free of pollution. This has been verified by NASA and is also explained by the prevailing winds that come from over the ocean.
The many sand dunes and lagoons in this area provide the perfect location for recreation and relaxation.

The Natal / Macarajau area

The condominium Paraiso Maracajau 1 is ideally located less than 1 kilometer from the tranquil Brazilian fishing village of Maracajau. Maracajau is a quiet fishing village with one major claim to fame.....the largest coral reef of Brazil is just 5 miles out from the coast.

The village has many restaurants and locations catering for snorkelling & diving. It also has a supermarket, pharmacy, clinic and police station. This idyllic fishing village with it's ideal climate (constant breeze and dry, equatorial trade winds) the people, the food and the low prices, all contribute to making Maracajaú the perfect place to relax. However, if you want more “action”, in a little over 40 minutes you can arrive in neighboring Natal with 800.000 inhabitants and all the modern facilities and nightlife you can wish for. The prices are so low that you can go by taxi, enjoy the night-life, spend the night in a hotel and return the next day for less than € 150.

Many activities can be organized locally in Maracajau. For example,
• Rent a Quad-Bike or take a guided journey through the sand dunes on a Quad-Bike.
• Go Pony Trekking along the beach then through the sand dunes finishing by watching the sunset over the sand dunes.
• Go snorkelling or diving on the coral reef (via slow boat or powerboat :-)
• Simply go fishing from the beach or hire a local fisherman to take you out to deeper water.
• Kitesurfing or Windsurfing is organized locally.
• Take a day out at the largest Water-park of the region Moa Noa which is just 2 kilometers along the beach.
• Go for an early morning stroll along the beach and watch the local fishermen catching your lunch.
• Take part in an organised trip exploring the region and stop off at a local lagoon to enjoy lunch.
• Take a buggy trip and enjoy the thrills of driving over the beach & dunes.
Local management is only too pleased to organize the many varied things to do in the area. The shaded recreation area close to the swimming pool functions equally well as meeting point of an evening. The informal atmosphere will surely make you feel at home.

Low cost flights from Amsterdam (Arkefly is the dutch sister company of Thomsonfly) and Lisbon (TAP) to Natal can be booked via internet. Return fares are seasonal and will vary between € 500 - € 1000 per person. FlyBrazil.nl offers good deals on "tickets only" flying with Arkefly.

We can arrange a transfer from the airport to Maracajau. Hire cars are available at NATAL airport or can be arranged via internet. LocBrasil is a trustworthy company. Expect to pay approx. € 35 per day for a small car with airco and unlimited mileage. It takes about an hour to drive the 70 kilometers from the airport to Maracajau (via Natal). The route is very easy but we will provide a detailed description (including tips for the city).
