The Paphos region
Paphos – The birthplace of Aphrodite. An area of outstanding natural beauty steeped in culture and a heritage written deep from within her past. A town with two personalities intertwined where the old meshes comfortably with the new. In the daytime there are so many places to visit whether your interest is historical and would lead you to sites such as the Harbour Fort, Mosaics or Monasteries hidden in the hills or a desire for activity stimulated by the many water sports at Coral Bay, quad safaris into the Akamas and Troodos mountains or maybe just a quiet round of golf at one of the fantastic local courses, families can enjoy the wonderful Water Parks, Animal Sanctuaries and Go-Karting circuits. And so then in to the night where traditional tavernas thrive successfully interspersed with the modern demand for entertaining nightlife. This town can be all things to all people and you will always leave with the feeling that there was just not enough time to get to know her well.
Paphos enjoys a Subtropical-Mediterranean climate, with the mildest temperatures on the island. The typical summer's season lasts about 8 months, from April to November, although in March and December temperatures may also reach 20 °C (68.0 °F).
The Nata Valley / Nata village area
Nata is a small relatively unspoilt rural village situated on the south-eastern hillside of the Xeros River Valley with approximately 350 residents. The valley is green in winter but brown in summer but no matter what the season it has amazing views and a profusion of colour threading through all the houses and winding streets provided by the many flowering plants which are native to Cyprus, the air is usually laden with the rich smells of the many fruit trees as each comes in to season.
It is approx 25 minutes from the centre of the town of Paphos via the A6 motorway, 15 minutes to the sea and a long scenic beach at Mandria. The international airport is just 20 minutes from the village and the historical village of Geriskipou is on the B6, the old road to Paphos and boasts many restaurants and the Cyprus Delights Factory along with the closest large supermarket called Thrassos.
The village has a traditional village restaurant known as Perikli's Taverna, their Sunday buffet is an experience of the best flavours that Cyprus has to offer. In the centre it has a community area where the villagers collect to play Tavli (a game similar to back gammon) and drink cool refreshments or local coffees provided by the small cantina which is combined with a minimarket. The Mayor or Muktah of the village also has his office in this area.
The village square has a war memorial surrounded by a mini ampi-theatre where during the festivals of the saints there are displays of traditional Greek dancing. It has numerous festivities during the year especially during mid August for Panagias (Greek Saints) day. The village also has five traditional cafe/tavernas most of which serve a small selection of local cuisine from daily fresh meat and produce.

We had a great time in this lovely 19th century stone dwelling with its thick stone walls and spacious interior. It has modern facilities inside and is extremely well equipped. Outside, the views from the terrace are really lovely and it was great to have our own pool. Our neighbour was very friendly and helpful and brought us fresh oranges and eggs. The village is the perfect retreat from the bustle of Paphos. The couple who own Pericles taverna are very welcoming and the food plentiful. We would strongly recommend this superb accommodation. Thank you Dawn for all your help prior to us going. Response: Evti thanks you for your kind words Carol and anytime you and Guy wish to revisit you will be most welcome :-) |

Stayed here in January, weather was warm and dry.lovely accomadation and very friendly locals.as a chef I ate lots of local food, and as a non driver the bus from the village to paphos is a very easy way to venture into the city.it is both a reliable and comfortable journey and at €2 return very good value for money, and takes you right to the centre of paphos.I loved nata as a village and will definately be returning at some stage in the year and have recommended this property to friends and family |

We had the most relaxing and peaceful stay at Evtihia. Set in a Cypriot village we were pleased to have none of the normal 'holiday' noise - traffic, loud music, noisy people - just the sound of birds and a fantastic view over the valley. A car is definitely a huge advantage as we had to travel to find different places to eat out etc, although the local Taverna was excellent and the owners extremely friendly and helpful. The local coffee house was also handy but did not have as much stock as many of the minimarkets in nearby towns/villages. Evtihia was ideal for a get-away-from-it-all break which is exactly what we were looking for. Friendly neighbours and locals and extremely good weather made this an unforgettable holiday. Would love to return. Response: Liz Thank you for the review I am so pleased that you and Brian had the best visit you could have wished for. Regards Dawn |
