The New Providence region
Come visit the jewel of The Islands Of The Bahamas - Nassau / Paradise Island. As the cultural, social, political and economic centre of The Bahamas, it is the most visited destination in the islands.
Nassau / Paradise Island has much to offer visitors. There are more sights and activities here than you can experience in one trip.
Nassau area
Pristine beaches, duty-free shopping, posh resorts, dazzling casinos, exciting attractions, historical landmarks and water and land sports of every kind are all waiting for you. And they're all just a "stone's throw" away from each other.
Your local beach being only 1 minute's walk from the property, we are sure you will spend lots of time there, but there is so much more to The Bahamas than beaches.
HISTORY: If you are interested in history, we can recommend Blackbeard's tower, which is within walking distance of the house and downtown Nassau with the pink parliament buildings. The first meeting of Parliament (General Assembly) took place on 29th September 1729. There are also many other historical buildings and sites on New Providence Island, such as Fort Charlotte, the governor's mansion etc. Find more information on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bahamas.
DINING: New Providence island and Paradise Island also offer a wide variety of dining experiences, from internationally known fast food chains to some of the world's finest gourmet restaurants. For fine diners we can recommend Graycliff's restaurant. This restaurant has one of the world's largest private collections of wines and it is also a very good place for celebrety spotting. Another excellent restaurant is Chez Willie (http://www.chezwillierestaurant.com), apart from serving first class food (try their Bahamian sunday brunch), this is also a first class place to meet celebreties. If you want to try the worlds best pizza, go to Zio Gigi on Paradise Island. Most restaurants in Nassau serve very good food and we are happy to provide you with a list of the best restaurants and bars.
SHOPPING: Nassau is well known for her many jewellery shops and perfume shops. You can buy any famous brand here at a discounted prize, and if you shop in the High Street shops, you are certain to get the real deal. Make sure you go shopping when there are no cruise ships in, because this is when it is easiest to negotiate a good deal. You should be able to get at least 10 - 15% off the sticker prize in most of the shops. For authentic looking copies of major brands, you may want to visit the Straw Market.
ACTIVITIES: With some of the most beautiful waters in the world, it is no wonder many come to The Bahamas for the water sports, and there are plenty of choices. Whether you are into fishing, scuba diving, water skiing or swimming with the dolphins, we have it all. Are you more into a romantic boat trip under the stars? We have that too. For the landloper golfing, horseback riding, tennis or a trip to the zoo may sound more appealing. If there is anything I forgot to mention, please ask, and I shall be happy to find out what is available.
GAMBLING AND NIGHT LIFE: There are two very good casinos in the area. The most famous is probably the Atlantis where you will also find the best nightclub in Nassau.
EXPLORING THE ISLANDS: Many of the Family Islands (Out islands) can be reached by boat on a daytrip, and we highly recommend a visit to Harbour Island. Take the ferry from Nassau in the early morning with the locals, and visit Harbour Island. Harbour Island offers some of the best beaches in the world, and the only beaches we know of which has pink sand.
