The Tennessee region
Tennessee is in the mid-South with moderate temperatures and four seasons. Summer highs top out at 95 degrees F. Winter temps rarely drop below 40 degrees. Spring and Fall range in the 60s-70s. The state topography goes from the Great Smoky Mountains in the east to the rich delta land where the Mississippi River winds around the western border. Nashville is found in middle Tennessee, 3.5 hours to Knoxville and 4 hours to Memphis.
Middle Tennessee and Nashville, in particular, is a robust centre for music. You'll find wonderful jazz to outstanding classical in Nashville, and obviously country. Home of the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, is in Nashvile along with the new Grand Ole Opryhouse. Classical buffs appreciate the new Schermmerhorn Symphony Hall.
Rich in history, middle Tennessee is home to the The Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson, one of the early U.S. Presidents. Students of the U.S. Civil War find a number of important sites to visit including the site of the Battle of Stones River, second bloodiest battle of the Civil War.
This is just the tip of the iceberg in Nasvhille.
