About the home

This original stone cottage has been carefully restored and extended to provide a spacious villa, with all the conveniences of modern services.

The extension has been sensitively designed to complement the original cottage. Local materials and imaginative use of glass has maximised the natural light in the house, which benefits from lovely, unimpeded views over the Avant Mountains and the Caroux Mountains.

The interior has been finished in an elegant modern style which complements the beams, hardwood floors and Italian tiling. 10 people can be comfortably accommodated in 4 bedrooms and a mezzanine bedroom.

Kitchen - Large kitchen with French doors opening onto the patio. The kitchen is centred on the large dining table which seats 10. The amenities include a dishwasher, a fridge/freezer, an electric cooker, a microwave oven and a double sink.

Utility Room - Separate washer, dryer and utility sink.

Living Rooms - A large salon divided into 2 areas. It has a wooden floor, a traditional fireplace and French windows which give magnificent views across vineyards below. There is a flat screen satellite TV, DVD player, video recorder and a selection of media.
Outside:
Double doors from the kitchen lead to the patio area with teak garden furniture for al fresco dining. Beyond the patio, there is a superb, spacious sun deck built in eco-friendly Brazilian hardwood bordered by rock pools and water fountains. The garden then banks up steeply to the swimming pool area.

The swimming pool measures 8m x 5m and is surrounded by a combination of paving and decking. The pool area is private and fully enclosed by subtle fencing, making the area safe for small children, whilst at the same time maintaining the magnificent views over the beautiful countryside.

Ample garden furniture, a gas barbecue and a charcoal barbecue are available for your convenience.

The garden looks over the vineyard located in the centre of the village. There are magnificent 360 degree views with mountains behind the house and views across to the hilltops on the other side of the Valley of the river Jaur.

The nearest small town is Olargues which is a 10 minute drive away. On a breathtaking site, Olargues retains much of its medieval architecture and is officially designated one of the most beautiful villages in France. Here there are general shops, including an excellent butchers and 2 bakers. More extensive facilities such as large supermarkets can be found in Bedarieux, and the sophisticated town of Beziers is approximately 40 minutes away. For trips to the Mediterranean, beaches are just over 1 hour from the house.

Roquebrun - This pretty village is known as "little Nice", and the "garden of the Mediterranean" because of its botanical gardens. A large beach and river swimming can be enjoyed here.

St Chinian - This market town has a great variety of restaurants and stores. A market is held every Sunday in the pretty shaded square. It is lined by the handsome Mairie, which looks out onto the formal gardens. The local wine is famous throughout the region and you will find many caves to visit for wine tasting.

Beautiful 9 hole golf course at Lamalou Les Bain (20 mins drive).

Beziers - the nearest city to the house, Beziers has a main avenue surrounded with cafes and restaurants. It is famous for its bullfighting and summer festival.

Valras Plage - the nearest coastal town resort and is approximately 45 minutes away. It is a fishing port, hence the fine cuisine. Miles of sandy beaches can also be explored here.

Montpellier - the capital of the Languedoc is 1.5 hours away.

Pezenas - famous for its many bric-a-brac and antique shops.

Carcassonne - with its 2,500 years of history, now a perfectly restored medieval fortified town.
