BookThe West Wales / Pembrokeshire / Pembrokeshire region
The county of Pembrokeshire has something for everyone, in Nov 2010 it was voted the No. 2 coastal destination in the WORLD by National Geographic Traveller!
The sandy beach at Amroth is only 6 miles away and marks the start of the popular Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Amroth is a favorite and safe destination for families to enjoy swimming, body boarding and rock pooling.
The historic town of Tenby (12 miles) has a great selection of shops, pubs & restaurants to explore. As well as the fascinating harbor area, there are seasonal fishing trips and boat rides out to Caldey Island.
There is an 18 hole (par 64) golf course & fishing at Heronsbrook (3 miles) and a choice of locations for horse trekking. For nature lovers - explore The National Trust owned 'Colby Woodland Gardens" or the amazing National Trust reserve at Stackpole. For history lovers try Pembroke Castle or the Cathederal at St Davids.
Family attractions include Folly Farm, Oakwood Theme Park, Blue Lagoon Water Park and for older children and adults try the 'adrenalin rush' of coasteering.
Internationally recognised as an area of outstanding natual beauty with the UK's only coastal National Park.
The coastal path starts at Amroth and takes you 186 miles through some of the most picturesque scenery the Wales has to offer - golden beaches, smugglers caves, hidden coves, towering cliffs and amazing views.
Pembrokeshire offers scenic coastal walks, lovely bucket & space/rock pooling holidays with bustling market towns such as Narberth or Haverfordwest, or historic towns such as Pembroke with its castle the birthplace of the Tudor dynasty or Tenby with its ancient walled town or St Davids with its magnificent catherdral.
With huge open sandy beaches suitable for surfing, such as Freshwater West or Pendine, there really is something for everyone.
The Narberth / Llanmill area
Narberth is a very popular market town with an array of unique shops, art galleries, cafes & pubs. The Queens Hall hosts a number of events throughout the year including comedy nights & many visiting bands.
Narberths history is a long and fascinating one. Standing just south of the Landsker, it falls into the area regarded as 'Little England beyond Wales' but its roots lie deep in Welsh history, culture and tradition.
From Llanmill there are a number of walks and areas to explore.

My wife and I (with our dog Alfie) were looking for a country get away from our normal city life and found this through Holiday Lettings website. It had literally only been open for one set of guests before us and the renovated barn, while 'petite' was beautifully restored with everything that we needed. The outhouse opposite the barn was good for storing wellies etc and housed some swallow chicks! As is mentioned below, the bed was extremely comfy and the shower powerful. It was a lovely touch having some bread/milk/eggs etc ready for us upon our arrival. Steve and Gabi were great hosts and we were encouraged to enjoy the small holding and the pond by which there is a table and chairs. In the locality, we visited twice the Colby Woodland gardens, once to walk around and view the walled garden etc and secondly to take a set of boules and play/relax/read on the large open fields. Lovely. Amroth beach was a great location for dog walks with miles of sandy beach and we mixed in trips to Tenby and Saundersfoot with strolls around Narberth. One review below states Narberth is a 10 min drive away. It's actually only a few minutes and it's a lovely town, full of character with an excellent butchers, veg shops and delis. I'd highly recommend this area and staying at Kingfisher Barn. My wife is now 5 months pregnant and we hope to revisit before the little one appears. |

We had a wonderful 3 nights stay at Kingfisher Cottage, it was bright, modern and spotlessly clean with the comfiest bed we have ever slept in. If anyone is looking for a romantic little hidey-hole for a few nights, then look no further. Totally private and yet part of a small-holding with animals a plenty, even baby goats and the hens even delivered their eggs direct to the kitchen worktop prior to our arrival!!! The only thing we wished the cottage had was a washing machine, even in the outhouse across the little patio would be fine, but personally we couldn't stay longer than 3 nights without one, which is a great shame as we'd love to spend a whole week here in the summer. If there was any way at all of plumbing one in it would open up a whole new set of guests I'm sure. Overall it's a fabulous little cottage and we're hoping to book another long weekend there for the spring. |
