Le Clos des Serenes

B&B | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6

Key Info
  • Great for children of all ages
  • No pets allowed
  • Car essential

Le Clos des Serenes is a renovated stone farmhouse and barn with pigeonnier located on the edge of the rural village of Lunac in the valley of the Serene. Formerly owned by the local doctor, it is known throughout the Aveyron and beyond as the home of Les Serenes, a nationally renowned ladies basket ball team run by the doctor, which reached the French Premier league in years gone by.

Nowadays, it is run as a small family bed and breakfast by Pauline Weller, offering a family wing, with three bedrooms, two with a full size double bed, and one with two singles. These three rooms are served by a bathroom with bath/shower and wash basin, and a seperate WC.

This area, with it's rolling hills, and dramatic gorges, is perfect for those who enjoy walking, cycling, horse riding, and white water kayaking. Or if your passion is painting or photography, with some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe, you will not be disappointed. Swim in the Viaur on a hot day, or visit some of the "most beautiful villages in France". Steeped in history, the Aveyron is like stepping back in time, and, it will open your eyes to a different world. Visit the local markets, followed by a regional lunch in one of the many restaurants or cafes, whilst soaking up the atmosphere of bygone days. Discover the Bastide towns, or take yourselves off to Albi where you can explore the narrow, shaded streets, visit the museum of Toulouse-Lautrec and take in the magnificent splendor of the Saint Cecile cathedral..

Whatever you decide to do, rest assured you will have an interesting and pleasurable stay in this beautiful region. Pauline and her husband Steven, are always on hand to assist with planning excursions and walks, or just for a general chat about the area and things to do.

The Midi-Pyrenees region

The region of the Midi pyrenees is made up of 8 departments, the Aveyron being one. Almost forgotten for centuries this sparsly populated department in the south of France streches over a wildly varied landscape. Medieval villages, adventurous terrain and fairy tale chateau, deep gorges and winding rivers abide here.

So much of it is a secret even some French don't know it's here, this is France profound. The Aveyron has five bastide towns, and ten villages (the highest concentration in any department) that meet the 30 odd criteria required to be officially included among the "Most beautiful villages of France".
