Home description

The house is a fully modernised 18th century stone house, the living accommodation is on the first floor which is approached by a stone stairway typical of Quercy farmhouses. There is a large garden bordered by the small trout River Seye and an ample driveway for parking several cars etc..

The hamlet of Ginals is only 2km from Verfeil in the Seye Valley, one of the valleys of the Midi Pyrenees. This beautiful area lies to the south of the Lot Valley. The whole region is unspoilt and full of charm . It abounds in fascinating medieval "Bastide "towns and villages such as St Antonin Noble Val, Cordes , Najac, and Albi with its fortified cathedral and Toulouse Lautrec Museum. Nearby is the breathtaking beauty of the Aveyron Gorge and further afield the spectacular Gorges du Tarn. The ancient Abbaye de Beaulieu is on the "doorstep" and there is a Knights Templars castle among others to visit within the locality.

The Midi-Pyrenees / Aveyron region

The Area
A beautiful and unspoilt area that lies just beyond the limestone plateaux (causses)of Quercy in the rolling hills of Rouergue. The deep wooded slopes of the valleys and surrounding hills in which ancient hamlets nestle gives plenty of room for wildlife such as red squirrels, deer, wild pigs and birds which include birds of prey, hoopee etc.

The Climate

Lying on the same latitude as Nice, this area enjoys long hot summers and glorious Springs and Autumns. In this attractive spot a true taste of rural France, rich in medieval history, can be experienced.

Eating Out
There are many reasonably priced restaurants, cafes, and fermes auberges within easy reach, to sample the traditional Gallic pleasures of the superb food and wine of South West France. Nearby are the wine growing areas of Gaillac, Quercy and the famous Cahors with the opportunity to try and buy the local vintages.

Najac / Ginals area

Verfeil (2km) has a Post office,baker/general stores. The hill village of Parisot also nearby, has further shops. Caylus (10km) a small charming medieval town has mini-markets, a bank, chemist and many other useful shops. The larger towns of Caussade, Villefranche de Rouergue and St. Antonin Noble Val have more shopping facilities with supermarkets all within easy reach. There are large markets nearby: in Caussade on a Monday, Villefranche (Thursday) and St Antonin (Sunday) none of which you should miss.

Recreation
Swimming, boating and wind surfing are attractions of the nearby Leisure Lake at Parisot. Swimming is possible at Caylus and at the swimming pool in St. Antonin. Canoeing and swimming in the Aveyron River; tennis at the courts in Verfeil and local horse riding is worth considering.

It is a wonderful area for cycling and for both easy and strenuous walking with superb views. In the Aveyron Gorge (10km) rock climbing and pot holing can be experienced.

The area boasts of many natural attractions such as under ground caves, grottos, gorges water falls and forests etc.

Guestbook

We enjoyed living in the house and found it well equipped.. had a wonderful view of a kingfisher and also a deer.

.. your lovely house in Ginals, we did enjoy the holiday we had everything that we needed and more. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your house

We have just returned from an extremely enjoyable stay at your house -even better than our previous two visits.

... to say how much my family and I enjoyed staying in your home. We really enjoyed the area and the cool, relaxing environment the house provides.

We greatly enjoyed our stay, not just the walks and the local towns and villages but also the surprisingly varied wildlife that passed through the garden .. to hear and see the deer was exciting.
