The Himalayan North India region

Welcome to The Himalayan Chalet nestled around 300 kilometers of panoramic view of great Himalayas and surrounded by the eye soothing shades of green oak, deodar and pine. Dunagiri is a sacred land of god and goddess blessed by ancient temples, which was once the home of Pandavas welcome you to the journey called nature. The Himalayan Chalet has nourished dreams for indisputable reasons… while clear light pours from a vast sky, you wander rocky, herby landscapes, and drink tea without a wrinkle on your forehead.

Since centuries Himalayas has been a home for legendary souls, among them one was Shyama Charan Lahiri "Lahiri Mahasaya" who was deemed to obtain the knowledge of Kriya Yoga from Mahavatar Babaji in a substantial cave near Dunagiri. In 1861, when Lahiri Mahasaya was transferred to Ranikhet, it is believed that Mahasaya was enchanted by the voice which directed him to the cave where his later to become guru Mahavatar Babaji was already waiting for him. Thereon, he received the techniques of Kriya yoga and spent his life flourishing it. Even today, existence of the cave can be nourished and the presence of the baba can be felt. f you are looking for peace and tranquility than explore the near temples and villages, talk to the people and understand their deep connection with nature and its bounty. Indulge yourself into the rich Kumouni culture where god still lives among humans, the mesmerizing surroundings of wood, sky and mountain tells you the tale of legendary Pandavas who fought the great battle of Mahabharata.

Try the local cuisine which is mostly fresh vegetables and lentils but mountain lamb can be delicious.

Don't hide from sun let it shine in your body and say I feel Autumn. Best time of the year when apples are red, pears are yellow, walnut is going nuts, veggies were never so green and sky is blue so you can cook outdoor. It's your chalet and its your farm, pick what you like.

Up, up and away…is usually where the adventure begins. And rightly so, because be it summers or winters hiking season never ends in Himalayan Chalet just jump in your boots and climb to Pandav-Kholi to see what you can't see from anywhere else.
