About the home
The property is situated in Nai Harn, Baan Bua, a gated development with low-key security. Some properties are owned by resident expats from Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the US. Some are kept as holiday homes and a few are rented out. The development is complete, well planted and very peaceful in a beautiful setting..
The house is stunning, with a view of the lake and well-planted gardens. Built in 2005 to a very high speci, it is on a split level, with 4 ensiute bedrooms, has a well equipped kitchen, dining room, living room, terrace with table and chairs overlooking the pool and lake, and parking for two cars. Steps lead down to the 12-metre pool, bar area, master bedroom with spa bath and two of bedrooms. The house is well equipped with Hi fi and wi fi. The development is well-managed, and there is an office on-site to lend assistance when necessary. Maids come twice per week, and the pool and gardens are maintained twice-weekly. The Phuket region

Climate is tropical, with little variation in temperature. Humidity changes significantly: low season lasts from November to March. Humidity starts to increase in April, and there is some rain in July and August. However, weather in August compares favourably with the UK, with sun every day and some rain in the evenings. Please observe the safety flags on beaches in the wet season. Scuba diving is still possible, and visibility is very good. Everything remains open. Rain becomes regular in September and October.
Thailand is predominately Buddhist; Muslims make up around 10% of the population, and there are nearly as many mosques as temples.
The infrastructure in Phuket is excellent. Transport is good (although a hire car is recommended for this location, and there are no railways on Phuket.) Private hospitals are run on US lines for those with insurance, and service is at least as good as the private sector in the UK. Over the last five years, western style shopping malls have been built near Phuket Town and Patong, and smaller neighbourhood malls are springing up in several areas.
The house is on a 1300m2 plot at the Nai Harn beach end of the development. Nai Harn is a quiet area well to the south of the magnets of Kata-Karon and Patong. The beach is superb, and there are dozens of restaurants within a ten-minute drive. Prices range from £3 to £20 per head. Some of these are of exceptional quality, and service is usually excellent.
The Nai Harn area
A trip to Nai Harn can be as relaxing or as active as you like. Children love the area. Boat trips across the stunning Phang Nga bay are a must. This can be combined with a trip to the so-called James Bond Island (Ko Phing Gun) or the Muslim fishing village at Ko Panyee, or sea canoeing into the caves and hongs where you may see monkeys, bats and lungfish.
There is a National Park at Khao Sok (3 hours' drive), where you can take a jungle safari or go white water rafting. More locally, you might try an ATV trip or elephant trekking. There are several high-quality golf courses within a twenty-minute drive, including the Laguna Palm and Mission Hills. The famous Blue Canyon course is an hour from the house. On-line bookings can be made.
Phuket and nearby islands are among the best snorkelling / dive-sites in the world. We are happy to advise on locations and to recommend PADI training facilities. It is possible to be on Phi Phi in 45 minutes by speedboat from Chalong. Alternatively, try Shark Point and Stag Horn Reef. Further away, an overnight trip to the Similan Islands is well worthwhile.
Towns on the west coast are varied and interesting. The first towns as you head north are Kata and Karon (great shopping, Dino's mini golf and many restaurants) and Patong (for pretty well everything, including a fantastic new shopping mall called Jung Ceylon, parasailing and go-karting). The northern side of Patong is home to the Simon Cabaret, where the Lady Boys will amaze you. (Avoid the "VIP" seats on the ends of rows, or make sure your friends sit in them!) Further north still is Kamala - Fantasea is a tremendous show.
Phuket City is busy and crowded, and quite difficult to negotiate. However, shopping (especially the markets) is lively, and there are some fine restaurants. There are also several churches.

"Many thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful house. It had abolutely everything we needed for a fantastic holiday. We loved the beautiful pool and we made good use of the pool bar fridge! We are coming back. (The Cox Family, London.)

This is our second time here and it just gets better! Mike and Caroline were really helpful in getting us here and put us in touch with local people and activities. We love listening to the birds in the evening with a cocktail in hand. We enjoyed the gardens and the wonderful colours around us. It was a great month. (The Smith family, Sweden).

This was our second visit to this wonderful place. We have active teenagers and they loved everything. The bikes were well used and we left them to explore the beaches in Nai Harn and cycle round the National Park. Everything in the house was in perfect order and the information Mike and Caroline left for us was really helpful. We were all sad to go and will be back for a third visit soon. (The Batish Family 2009)

What a holiday. We have enjoyed every minute of it, the sun, the food, the people and of course this lovely house with its lovely gardens and nature at its best. Thank you for everything. (Dan 2009)

Dear friends,
We rested this beautiful villa in January 2011. Our vacation was memorable largely thanks to this home.
I would not call it a house but a whole complex of leisure and relaxation. The villa consists of three separate buildings, and all the bedrooms are separated from each other. Therefore, nothing will get in the way of your comfort. The villa has a huge table under a canopy where it is very comfortable to sit everybody at dinner. The villa is equipped with everything necessary for comfortable living and work, there is wireless internet access, separate work desk with a printer, a large TV (though there are no Russian channels) but we have used the DVD player. All rooms are air-conditioned, so in the heat of the day you can comfortably sit in front of a huge TV in the cool air conditioning with a glass of wine or beer. It was so nice to find table tennis and all the accessories for table tennis. It is very exciting to play tennis, then dip in the pool and bask in the sun. Just wonderful that the owners of Villa have installed near the pool a small bar with separate refrigerator and sink, I quickly mastered the profession of the bartender, and the next day, I delivered excellent cocktails straight to my friends in the pool. In the spacious kitchen you will find all the necessary crockery and utensils. Try roast tiger prawns with garlic sauce - it's just delicious ... fresh prawns are sold for 180 baht (about 180 rubles) per kilogram in the markets in nearby Chalong. A definite plus is having a full kitchen that you can prepare meals in for their children. People who have been abroad for a long time know how hard it is to feed their children unfamiliar foods. Well, the location of most houses within the complex Bang Bua is very convenient, very close to the exit to the beach (20 minutes walk or 3 minutes on a scooter), almost no neighbors, ie no noise in the evenings.
Well, a few hints to future visitors:
Close to the exit on Soi Naya between the Creperie and the DaVinci restaurant (very expensive for Thailand) is a wonderful Thai cafe.
The nearest gym is behind the DaVinci restaurant.
Next to the DaVinci restaurant you can rent a car for 1000 baht per day, or a moped for around 200 baht.
For foods, we would recommend Tesco Lotus near Phuket town. We compared the prices with the Big C, and Tesco is cheaper.
There is an Alcohol and Beverage wholesale store on the way to Tesco on the highway on the left (if you drive from the villa).
Water is best to buy in white 20-litre bottles, initially you give 100 baht deposit for the bottle, and 10 baht for clean water. It costs 10 baht to fill the bottle, and when you leave you can return the empty bottles to the store and get your 100 baht deposit back.
Try to order food at home (there are menus next to the phone). The order usually takes 20-30 minutes. Surprisingly delicious pizza.
If there any domestic issues do not hesitate to contact the administration complex. There are very nice girls who always help you.
