Home description

Villa Amelia offers the perfect location for a self-catering beach and cultural holiday all in one. Set in a small complex of villas in the village of Asini with views across the valley to the mountain backdrop, it is just 1.5km from the sandy beaches of Tolo and has a plethora of cultural sites to see in the local area. With easy access from Athens, Villa Amelia is an ideal base for all times of the year. A visit out of the high season still allows you to use the pool with comfort without the very high temperatures that can prevent visits to some of the amazing archaeological sites. In high season the pool is a wonderful place to relax with the family and the beaches are just a short drive away.
Villa Amelia feels like home and we have tried to provide for your every need. Children are particularly thought of with toys, games and a range of videos and DVD's ( great for the very occasional rainy day). The shady enclosed courtyard is perfect for little ones to play in safely allowing parents to relax and wind down.
At the end of the day, prepare your bottle of wine, some local olives and delicious feta and enjoy the changing colours of the valley as you sit on the large balcony off the living room.

The Peloponnese region

The Peloponnese never fails to surprise us with its abundance of historical sights, natural beauty and clear blue waters. The nearby resort of Tolo offers the perfect location for sunbathing days and relaxed evenings eating in the tavernas set at the edge of the sea. Nafplion, the first capital of Greece, is truely beautiful and needs to be visited several times to truely discover all the secret corners of this historic town The little shops offer many intersting artistic items and a morning spent wandering through the narrow streets, filled with bourganvilla, is essential on more than one occasion.

Nafplion also has some lovely tavernas and fish restaurants for al fresco dining. A coffee or icecream must be tried in the main square after 10pm. Sit and savour the warm Greek atmosphere ( and the great icecream) with the impressive Palamidi Castle as a backdrop. Just a short drive away from the villa you can also enjoy the Ancient Theatre of Epidavors, Agamennon's Tomb at Mycenae, Nafplion's famous castle, etc.

Nafplion / Asini area

TOLO: The resort is just 1.5km away and offers all the essentials for the beach element of your holiday. It has lovely sandy beaches with sun loungers for hire and a full range of water sports available. It provides a variety of restaurants, many on the waterfront, from typical Greek tavernas to Italian bistros. It also has useful supermarkets, a post office and other little shops. We find the locals to be extremely friendly and helpful.

WINE: The Peloponnese is a big wine producing area. Take a day's drive to the Nemea region and sample wines at the local wineries. You may be surprised by the quality of the Peloponnese wine and the drive is extremely pleasant.
I
SLANDS: From Tolo you can hire a ferry, in high season, to take you to Spetses and Hydra. These are enchanting islands. Hydra does not allow cars and the mode of transport is either on foot or by donkey!! Out of the high season you can drive down the coast and catch a water taxi over to Spetses. An absolutely MUST day out.

How to get there

Athens airport is the eastiest access point to The Peloponnese. British Airways, Olympic Airlines and EasyJet all offer services from the UK. All the major car hire companies have offices at the airport. The journey to the villa takes less than two hours and is both easy and very picturesque once Athens has been passed.
