The New England / Connecticut region
The Mystic area offers beautiful coastline, access to major U.S. historical sites including the Mystic Seaport Museum - a traditional whaling village, Mystic Aquarium, the submarine museum in New London and easy access to Boston, Providence, and New York City.
Temperatures in September and October ranges from the high 70's (Fahrenheit) to the mid-low 50's by late October. Christmas brings temperatures in the 30's, sometimes below freezing. Spring, again, averages between the 40's and 70's.
Mystic area
Local sites of interest include the Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium. The village of Mystic is a beautiful place to visit throughout the year. In the summer you can wander along the Mystic River, stopping off at cafes or admiring the historic houses, and in the Fall you can enjoy the beautiful autumnal colours on the trees. There are great restaurants to dine at, and plenty of nearby spots to visit.
How to get there
Mystic, Connecticut, is one hour from T.F. Green Airport, Providence, Rhode Island; 2 1/2 hours from Boston's Logan International Airport, 2 1/2 hours from Hartford's Bradley Airport and 3+ hours from NYC's JFK and LaGuardia airports.
Train service is also available from the major cities along the East Coast. It's about a 3 hour train trip from Penn Station, NYC, and about 2 hours from Boston. The local train station in Mystic is about 5 minutes. You can also take a train to New London,
Major car rental services are available at the airports. By train, you can rent a car in New London or Mystic, but with limited choices of rental companies.

Located in a private community on Masons Island, the house offers the best of both worlds - a quiet getaway with access to all the amenities of the East Coast. The house includes WiFi, fax and printer for keeping in touch with everyone at home.
The cook's kitchen features a Viking range, Subzero refrigerator, ice maker, dish washer and granite counter tops. A 42" TV, stereo receiver/speakers for your iPod, or plenty of quiet, if you prefer, can be found in the family room. A dining room with an expandable table to 96" seats 8 easily.

Arrangements can be made for a cook to prepare dinners for as many nights of your stay as you wish.
This house is furnished to accommodate our children and grandkids during the summer. Almost eveything is washable. There is plenty of opportunity for biking/walking and just enjoying nature.
However, this might not be your choice if you have toddlers since the house has a steep rock drop off from the terrace and easy water access.
It would be the perfect choice for families with older children or for a few couples.
