1904 - Kamba Cottage
About the home
This lovely cottage is one of two 17th Century stone-built cottages in the scattered hamlet of East Murthill. The cottage also comes with access to the owner’s indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna. There is also a large garden with incredible views and a patio area from which to enjoy them. For the long summer evenings the barbecue offers a great excuse to eat in, although the town of Kirriemuir (just seven miles away) is full of local amenities such as restaurants, pubs and cafes.

The Tayside / Perthshire / Angus/Dundee region
From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the rugged landscapes of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. The beautiful countryside of Dumfries and Galloway is littered with fortresses and strongholds, testimony to its dramatic history. Moving north, the Highlands are to Scotland what the Pyrenees are to France, with equally breathtaking scenery and fantastic opportunities for walking and mountaineering.
Aviemore and the Cairngorms National Park are particularly famous for skiing, whilst Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain at 1343m, is a firm favourite for those seeking a challenge. For the less energetic, the Whisky Trail provides a unique way of exploring many of Scotland’s attractions and for quieter moments, there’s always Loch Ness and a chance to spot the elusive monster! Scotland also has some of Britain’s best and cleanest beaches.
Cromarty is famous for its bottle-nosed dolphins and Nairn, whilst claiming to be one of the sunniest and driest places in the country, has glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam. Several islands lie off the Scottish coast, each with their own character and heritage, however the Isle of Skye is probably the best known and most visited. As the largest of the Inner Hebrides, Skye’s turbulent geological past has bequeathed it a stunning coastline.
Experienced walkers are drawn to the Black Cuillin Mountains, whilst those less experienced have an array of lower level coastal walks from which to choose or alternatively, visitors can take some time to visit Skye’s capital, the charming harbour town of Portree.
The Murthill area
Made of lovely red sandstone, the Strathmore valley town of Kirriemuir is often regarded as the gateway to the Angus Glens, some of Scotland's most unspoiled landscapes. JM Barrie - creator of the much-loved children's character, Peter Pan, and subject of the Johnny Depp film ‘Finding Neverland’, was born in the town and his house is now a museum looked after by the National Trust for Scotland. A statue of ‘the boy who never grew up’ can be found within Kirriemuir. However, Barrie is not the only literary connection to this charming little town. Nearby Glamis castle was the setting for Shakespeare’s ‘cursed’ play, Macbeth. The historic Pictish Stones at Meigle and the Angus Glens are well worth visiting and offer spectacular views whilst hill walking.

Guestbook for 1904 - Kamba Cottage
The owner was very friendly and the property was very clean and well equipped. The garden was completely enclosed - that was great for letting our dog out.
