Home description
This fabulous big detached finca is set in a walled garden of over 3000m and has its own private swimming pool. The finca itself is very large and spacious and superbly laid out with plenty of space both inside and outside of the villa for the perfect family holiday. The pool itself (if is proper sized) is 10 x 12 metre and not just a puddle to splash about in.
The finca is set in a traditional rural village just north of the vibrant town of Cartagena. The village itself has a very useful village shop which sells just about everything you could need. However, there is a slightly bigger village of El Albujon just 1.5km away.
This property would ideally suit a family who would like a relaxing and quiet family holiday, a bit away from it all in traditional Spain but still within easy reach of amenities and facilities. There is no Mickey Mouse or plastic palm trees, but if you are the type of people whose idea of a lovely holiday is sitting on the terrace enjoying an BBQ and swimming under the stars then this is the ideal place for you. It is real Spain, the local bars and restaurants serve real Spanish food at real Spanish prices. But if you need to rejoin the rest of the world Cartagena is only 12km down the road and easier to get to from this villa than from any of the golf course resorts in the area.

The Costa Calida/Murcia region
Nestling at the bottom of the Costa Blanca, the Costa Calida is one of the least well known and most unspoilt areas of Spain guaranteed to give you a taste of "real Spain".
With over 315 days of sunshine every year it is little wonder that the Costa Calida means warm coast the the unspoilt inland waters of the Mar Menor, the largest natural lagoon in Europe offers safe and warm water bathing all year round.
The area is best known for the La Manga Club resort, renowned for its three championship golf courses, LTA Tennis Centre Training Ground and being the training ground for visiting football teams from Spain, the UK and the whole of Europe.
The area has much to offer than just La Manga Club. There are 8 further golf courses of an excellent standard, and a further 10 under development in the area. If a golfing holiday is your ideal then this is the perfect place for you. Once you have enjoyed the 4 Polaris World courses you can try Roda Golf and Beach which is only 5 mins drive from the villa, or La Serena again 5 mins drive in the other direction. La Serena is a tricky course and take lots of spare balls as there are 16 holes with water. The Club house is excellent and they do a very welcome lunch after golf at a good price.
Mosa Trajectum is a little further away, this has three 9 hole golf courses and so you can choose to play 18 holes or 27, plus there is a further Challenge Course. Finally Hacienda del Alamo, the closest to the villa but if you are an enthusiastic golfer this is worth the effort. 18 holes of large open fairways, a truely excellent course, very well presented and maintained. Prices range for 55euros to 90euros for a Green Fee (prices subject to change).
Murcia is more than just golf, it has a history that pre dates the Romans. If you are here in September then it is worth a visit to the Romanos y Catheginas festival. Every year in the third week of September the people of Cartagena reinact the Roman invasion, the battles, the marriages and the departures! This live history takes place every evening and all day Friday Saturday and Sunday there is a battle or a procession somewhere in the town. Then they pack up and go back to work for Monday morning. The costumes, the atmosphere, the noise it is really worthwhile seeing, especially bearing in mind that these are ordinary people from the towns and villages around Cartagena.
Murcia City is only 30 mins drive and steeped in history. Famous for its Moorish architecture and huge cathedral which exhibits an eclectic mix of ancient, old, georgian and modern architecture. The city has of course lots of wonderful shops and places to eat. Christmas time in Murcia is particularly special with the Christmas street lights and the palm trees decorated in fairy lights.
There is plenty of choice of beaches in Murcia along its 271km of coastline. From the villa the safe, shallow waters of the Mar Menor are the closest and easiest to find at the town of Los Alcazares. This is an excellent stretch of coastline, there are plenty of beach bars and cafes and the town centre with its excellent huge Tuesday market is a very short walk.
La Manga Strip ... the "sleeve" of land that runs from Cabo de Palos in the south to San Pedro in the north is 18km long and encloses the warm tranquil waters of the Mar Menor to the west and has the livelier colder Mediterranean to the east. The Strip is up to 1km wide in parts and in others is is merely 100m allowing only for the road to run through with a beach on either side. La Manga Strip is a town in its own right, albeit an long thin one! There are shopping centres, restaurants and bars set in plazas or squares. The marina at the Puerto Tomas Maestre is beautiful and houses some stunning boats and yachts that most of us can only dream of, but the restaurants are great and the atmosphere is wonderful.
Water sports ... well there could not be a better or safer place to learn to sail, jet ski or kite board. The area has a number of sailing schools with a wide range of boats and dinghies on which to learn to sail or to brush up your sailing skills. Diving is a popular sport and there are a number of different diving schools offering anything from the beginners course to night dives for the more expereinced diver. The dive around Isla Grosa, for example, takes around 1 hour and takes your through the magnificent quartz caves.
Murcia was founded in 831 and lies in the middle of the valley through which the River Segura flows. Murcia has the added attraction of “two seas” on one coastline; the Mediterranean with its endless beaches of white sand, crystal clear water, magnificent cliffs, lively ports and picturesque coves and the Mar Menor which was originally an open bay but is now a large costal lake of warm seawater measuring 170km.
The area has a magnificent climate and there are more than 3,000 hours of sun and even winter temperatures of an average of 18° C! A perfect location for swimming, fishing, sailing, water skiing and scuba diving, in fact virtually all watersports.
Murcia / Cartagena, Murcia area
The village of Las Lomas del Albujon is fairly small and sleepy little residential village, but it is only 30mins drive from the city of Murcia and 15mins from the town of Cartagena.
There is also the town of Fuente Alamo which has everything that you would need, about 15mins drive inland. The town is also the location of the presitgious Hacienda del Alamo Golf Resort.
The village is very traditional and the festival of the village takes place during May, with the final huge firework on the final Saturday. The festival features many great Spanish entertainments involving horses, the beauty pagent and a huge paella cooked in a vast 2m dish over a real log fire.
