The Brittany region

The region is of a similar climate to Cornwall being a littler warmer. Although there are micro climates throughout Brittany and this means the weather can be as hot as Spain in some places.

There are plenty of places to visit in the area including the beaches at Carnac and Binic.

During the summer there are lots of festivals going on throughout the region including the festival at Bon Repos which is outstanding and is over 2 weekends in August.

The Lac de Guerledan is teeming with different varieties of fish, whether you're out for Carp, roach, rudd, trout zander, perch or a 40lb pike !! One was caught last year weighing in at 17kg.If you prefer River fishing, the Blavet river and Nantes Brest Canal are only 5 minutes away also, where you can fish for the same variety. Fishing is a huge past time in France and you will see fishermen everywhere where there's water !! It's a great place to introduce kids to the sport as quite a few villages have their own private ponds stocked with trout, and they have picnic benches and wide banks and only charge around 5 euros for a days fishing !

Mur-de-Bretagne

Le Cosquer is situated one mile outside of the village of St Connec, which comprises a church, Mairie and play area, found in all French villages and a bar. Just five miles away is Lake de Guerledan, with sandy beaches and safe bathing for those who do no want the hustle and bustle of sea beaches. Boat trips, water sports, fishing, cycling and walking are all available in this very beautiful area. If you have your own boat, bring it! There are no launch fees and launching is very easy. For all you mad keen fishermen and women out there you will be spoilt for choice in the area around your gite.

The area surrounding St Connec has many pretty villages with superb restaurants and churches, and along with the Napoleonic Castle at Pontivy, Bon Repos Abbey, La Forge des Salles, all go towards making this a great area of architectural study.

For those who prefer the sea, Carnac, with its long, sandy beaches, the megaliths and the oyster beds, is an easy hour's drive away. The beaches in the North, which don't get so busy, and as the coast is more rocky there are little pools to play in and many shells to be found.

There is a choice of all sizes of shops, from hypermarkets in Londeac and Pontivy, to the shop on site for basics.

Eating out is a pleasure,at the Lake, and in Pontivy and Londeac. All are very reasonable and very good. There's plenty to do, from sightseeing the lovely chateaux, visiting the coast or go-carting. We'll be there to tell you all about it.

"Concentration camp!"

In 12 years holidaying in France this was truly the worst.Owners welcome was, unfriendly unhelpful and dam right rude.1st day, glass garden table shattered in storm, the owner moved the table and left… More

Unfortunately things happen like tables breaking due to a storm. Such things are out of our hands. This was rectified and cleared the same day. The guest had use of another
table. We are sorry that the mowing of lawns has upset the guest but it has to be done. We have always shut the pool at 7 as do many other places for quite time for our guests.
All our old videos are in boxes. If guests allow children to go through private property then this cannot be helped.
The barn does have a hole in the roof but will be repaired out of season and its certainly not dangerous.
Please note this is from a guest who left the property in such a state it took 3 hours to clean.
