About the home

Both the Longere and the barn gite are perfect for that group holiday - renovated properties that were once part of a chateau, they maintain a Breton charm in their original features, but offer comfortable, modern accommodation. The pool is private and relaxing and stays in the sun for the whole of the day - there are parasols and an abri for shade. We only use gentle products in the pool - so no chlorine to sting the eyes. If you are a group who likes walking, biking, exploring, golfing, or just being together, then Keryvon is the perfect place for you.

The gites are tiled throughout. it has a modern kitchen and is spacious. Renovated and refurbished they maintain traditional Breton features, with plenty of beams and provide cool, comfortable interiors during the summer months. Each gite has a double bedroom on the ground floor, for anyone who finds stairs a little difficult and the showers in both those bathrooms are equipped with hand-rails. All the bedrooms are individual, airy, pretty rooms, with lots of space and light

There is a sandy beach only 4 miles away with water sports such as water ski-ing and kayaking or you can try out rock-climbing. It is a naturally beautiful area with stunning countryside, so if you are a car club, driving through the valleys and hills is a dream. There is a classic car show on the edge of the Lac de Guerledan each 15 August - the French love beautiful cars !

The Brittany / Cotes-D'Armor region

Central Brittany is unique; the Bretons have an independent spirit with a strong celtic influence; they are warm and hospitable and enjoy music and dancing; nearly all the villages and communes in the forest of Quenecan present their own" fest-noz" during the summer where you can see traditional dancing at its best. The climate is mild during winter and often reaches 30 degrees during the summer, but generally without humidity. Breezes from the Atlantic are refreshing. Each August the abbey of Bon Repos stages a son et lumiere which apart from being a spectacular event, gives the visitor the history of Brittany, from Roman times through to the French Revolution and the revolt of the Bonnets Rouges. It is unmissable !

The abbey which was originally the home of the Cistercian monks, is in a beautiful setting on the Nantes-Brest canal, where you can cycle or picnic and walk along the towpath under beech trees and oaks. Each Sunday there is a market of local produce, flowers, cheeses , cider and crafts - you can have lunch at the abbey's restaurant or a beer at the cafe on the canal-side.Or take a vedette from the lac de Guerledan and have dinner on board whilst you learn about Napoleon's man-made lake. Go further into the forest and visit the Forge - another beautiful setting housing a complete village which produced iron during the 18th century - tours are available daily in the summer. Both the north and south coasts are within an easy drive from gites de Keryvon - you can find sandy beaches at Binic, Les Rosaires, Val Andre and Perros Guirec and from there you can hop on a vedette which speeds you to the tiny greek-like island of Ile de Brehat.... well worth a visit.

There are many pretty villages in the area - all filled with flowers, such as Quintin and Moncontour or delightful ports such as St Goustan near Vannes, where you can stroll along the rugged coastline or people-watch in the many bars and cafes. Armor means "where the land meets the sea" which is a perfect description for this varied and lovely area.

The Mur-de-Bretagne area

Mur has a friday market and a particularly lively friday evening market during July and August, which includes a live band and dancing in the square. Several bars and restaurants are grouped around this square, so you can take an aperitif whilst enjoying the music. One particular bar, Le Thematique has an english library and is an internet cafe.

An annual classic car show is held just outside Mur on the banks of the lac de Guerledan during August and the local fest-noz takes place at the beginning of August. There is a pony and horse riding centre in Mur. Bikes are easily hired and can be arranged to be delivered to your gite. Mur has 2 bakeries, 2 churches, doctor, dentist, supermarket etc.
