About the home

A holiday home ideally suited for the whole family, furnished and equipped to welcome you to our favourite Cornish town. Small Party Discounts / Short Breaks Available. The kitchen and dining area opens into the garden giving a private social space for daytime and evenings. Equipped for all ages with a range of leisure activities to cater for a range of tastes.

Please see our web site for the specialist baby and toddler equipment available at the house. There is a play area in Mullion and the choice of beaches ensures a variety of activities. Ask about surf and beach equipment availability.

Relax, there is no need to travel far, Mullion has a choice of shops where you can buy local produce including fresh fish, visit the farmers' market, or use on line orders and deliveries. The kitchen has been equipped for food preparation for the whole family. If you prefer to eat out there is a good choice of pubs and restaurants in Mullion. It is a short walk to the local cricket field or you can browse the gift shops and galleries and look around the 13th Century church.

The West Country / Cornwall region

The Lizard peninsula offers a combination of a mild climate and interesting geology to produce an area with charm and character. It includes unique habitats and species, you will find something different around every corner and cove. The Lizard offers outdoor activities including horse riding; cycle, surf board, boat and kayak hire, exploring the beach and rock pools or walking the coastal path. Inland the villages provide history and character that add to the Peninsula’s charm. For a day out, explore RNAS Culdrose, Flambards theme park, Gweek Seal Sanctuary, Poldark Mine, Roskilly's Dairy Farm & Ice Cream Parlour, The Marconi Centre. Other local attractions include Helston Flora Day and The Furry Dance, Goonhilly Earth Station and the Eden Project.

The Mullion Cove area

Ridgeback House is only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Mullion which is the largest village on the Lizard. Facilities include 2 convenience stores with bakery, post office, hairdresser, gift and craft shops, art galleries, restaurants, bistro and cafe, fish and chip shop, pubs, free car parks and garden shop. The coastline is designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty by the National Trust, with access to beaches and walking. Trenance chocolate factory and craft workshop is a very short walk towards Mullion Cove which has a pretty working harbour; you can still see the old pilchard cellar and net store. Fishing trips are available. The beach at Polurrian is a 15 minute walk from Ridgeback House, it is popular with surfers, approached by an attractive walk along the cliffs or through a valley. Nearby is Poldhu Cove, an ideal and easily accessible family beach. Kynance Cove is a short drive away or can be accessed from the coastal path. Surf board and wet suit hire available in the village. Church Cove as its name suggest has a church nestling near the beach and is close to the Mullion Golf Course which offers a cliff top experience with views towards St Michaels Mount.

“Fantastic” Beautiful, spacious, clean property. Can't recommend enough. Look for cleanliness and comfort whenever I rent a property and this one didn't disappoint. We got there late at night and the local contact Jenni had gone out of her way to turn on the lights for us so we would find the property easily. The extra little touches such as the cream tea and flowers made it all the more welcoming. We were a party of six adults and three children. There was enought space to accommodate us all easily, allowing for privacy where required and plenty of space to in the kitchen, living and dining areas for us all to socialise comfortably. Finally, the enclosed garden and patio area was really enjoyed by all.

“Amazing child friendly house” Went with my young family and was pleasantly surprised with how well equipped the house was for young children. Not only did the house include a play pen, but enough stair gates and guards to feel at home. Really meant we could relax and have a holiday. The cottage is located really close to a children's park and beach, which the kids loved. Definitely will be booking another week down there!

“A little piece of heaven on the Cornish coast” Easy to book. the owner was happy to answer any questions. On arrival we were met by a friendly local resident, who gave us the keys and showed us around the house. we felt very welcome as there was a welcome pack full of the essentials like milk and bread. First impressions was that the 4 bedroom house looked quite small, but in actual fact once we entered the front door it was deceptively large. As there was a big group of us (8 Adults), the big dining room table allowed us amply space at meal times and the sitting room was comfortably spacious. The nearest beach is great for surfing although the 10 minuet walk is far enough to carry the surf board. There are lots of coastal walks and we enjoyed the occasional meal out in the towns pubs and restaurants. The local shops were very handy also. Loved the enclosed garden with an impressive BBQ. If we had to mention a negative point, it would be that there are only 2 car park spaces, but there is space to park seconds away and it free!
