Home description

Apartment A is ideal for a large family group or a group of friends. It is on the first floor and consists of 2 double bedded rooms, and 2 triple bedded rooms, all have en-suite shower rooms with wc.There is a dining room with double bed settee, colour TV,DVD player, CD player and fully fitted kitchen complete with microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer box, kettle, coffee maker, electric ceramic hob and oven.

Both apartments have access to a large south facing guest terrace with seating and tables, games room, ski and boot storage and sauna. There is a small charge for the sauna. In the games room there is table tennis and a pool table.

Having 3 young children we are well equipped for families, with a large garden, toys, and baby equipment.

We also have a small apartment on the ground floor which sleeps 4.

The Austrian Alps / Salzburgerland / Salzburgerland region

We are located 45 minutes from Salzburg, a beautiful city to visit. Within Salzburgerland there are a host of activities all within an easy drive from us - Ice caves, salt mines, castles, zorbing, rafting, jet boating, summer toboggan, thermal spas, lakes, golf and para-gliding.

In the winter the Hochkönig ski area lift pass is also valid for the whole Ski Amade area- 5 areas, 25 Locations, 860 km of pistes and 270 lifts. including Schladming, Dachstein glacier , Flachau, and Bad Gastein.

Muhlbach am Hochkonig area

Mühlbach am Hochkönig is set at 845 metres above sea level, and is a friendly Alpine village.Our house is in a quiet location, yet only 2 minutes walk from the village centre.The village has a supermarket, an excellent bakers, tourist information, 2 banks, Post office, chemist, cafes, restaurants and bars.

There are 120 kms of clearly marked hiking paths, ranging in height from 900 to 2900 metres.The Karbachalm cable car from near the village, will take you up to a height of 1600 metres to begin your walk.
The open air swimming pool is just 2 minutes walk from our house. There are 4 clay courts in the village that are available to hire.Mühlbach is an old copper mining village and the mine museum is directly behind our house.You can also go down an old mine tunnel.There are several places to fish and permits can be bought at the tourist office.

Activities for Children - Throughout the Summer there are various children’s activities organised in the village, ranging from a horseback adventure ride to tennis coaching and family hikes. Festivals include Fasching in February, Silvester(New Year's Eve - fantastic fireworks), Dorffest in August and the Harvest festival in September.

In the winter the ski bus is 3 minutes walk from the house and it is possible to ski back to within 2 minutes of the house. The Hochkönig ski area has 39 lifts, with a new Gondola opening in 2008/2009 season, 150 km of groomed slopes, a brand new snowboard park, and 40 km of maintained cross country trails ranging from 900 to 2000m above sea level. The area is relatively unheard of in the British market, the pistes are quiet and the mountain restaurants offer excellent value.We also have a very good snow record, please ask to see photographs! Living on site means that we can help with where to ski, where to eat etc..., for first timers to the area we try to ski with guests where possible on the 1st day to show you the area. The ski hire shop and ski school office is located in front of our house so it could not be easier to arrange equipment and lessons.

How to get there

-Getting here by plane is very easy as there are several different airlines that fly from the UK to Salzburg. The transfer time from Salzburg is only about 45 minutes, mainly by Autobahn. Also Munich airport is only 2 hours
away.

Sky Europe fly from Manchester.
Thomsonfly fly from London Gatwick, Coventry, Manchester, Bournemouth and Doncaster/Sheffield .
Jet2com fly from Leeds/Bradford.
British Airways fly from London Gatwick and Manchester.
Flybe fly from Birmingham, Exeter and Southampton.
Aerlingus fly from Dublin.

- To drive from the airport to Mühlbach am Hochkönig is very straightforward and picking up a hire car from Salzburg airport is well organised. Contact us for a PDF of the route.

-If you are travelling by car there is no garage in Mühlbach , so if you need fuel we can advise you as to where the nearest petrol station is.

-Alternatively if you do not fancy driving you can travel by bus and train from the airport to Mühlbach am Hochkönig with Austrian Railways. You can get a ticket from the bus stop in front of the airport.

All breakages must be paid for.

A deposit to be paid at time of booking and full balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to arrival.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel more than 8 weeks before your arrival date we will retain your deposit.

If you cancel between 4 and 8 weeks before your arrival date we will retain your deposit and also charge 50% of your total holiday price.

If you cancel between 2 and 4 weeks before your arrival date we will retain your deposit and also charge 75% of your total holiday price

If you cancel less than 2 weeks before your arrival date there will be no refund.
