Home description
Originally a 'palace'of medieval times and more recently a small farm. Derelict in 1968 but since restored to retain a simple style of accommodation but with all 'mod cons'. Ta Torri is a listed property and the colonnaded path down the garden is one of only 3 remaining on the island.

The Island of Malta region
Malta as a whole has a fabulous history starting with the oldest neolithic temples in the world, the fascinating siege of the 16th century when the Knights held the island against the might of the Ottoman Empire, and more recently their heroic stand during the Second World War. The South west corner of the island is noted for the neolithic temples at Hagar Qim, the Hypogeum, the Blue Grotto and the busy fishing villages of Marsaxmett amd Marsaxlokk. It also has the 'Limestone Experience Exhibition' which reflects the tradition of quarrying in the area. The capital city of Valletta and the ancient silent city of Mdina are 20 minutes drive away.
Mqabba area
Mqabba is an old unspoilt Maltese quarrying village. Everything is available in the village; viz banking, (with hole in wall) good pharmacy, excellent butcher, fruitshop, general store - and the 'piece de resistance', - Alfred the baker just round the corner for fresh Maltese bread in the morning. The people are very friendly. There are no 'tourist facilities' (good!) but a couple of local bars where you can watch important football matches, have a game of snooker and enjoy the company of the local people. Throughout the Summer each Maltese town and village celebrates the feast day of their parish church. The firework displays are fantastic and everyone turns out.
How to get there
Fly to Malta International, taxi or hire car to Mqabba. (I hire from Alamo. Ring Sunni or Mario on 0035621800191. Say I recommended him to you and tell him you are staying at Ta Torri, - every little helps.)
