Home description

This spacious studio apartment is traditionally furnished and accommodates 3 people very comfortably. It has all necessary cooking facilities for a self-catered holiday. It is on the ground floor of a country house with direct access to the sunny, south-facing garden. The house is surrounded by beautiful scenery.

The small town of Lavaveix les mines has two supermarkets, a DIY shop, hairdressers and chemist and of course a bar. Three kilometres away is the bigger town of Ahun with a bigger supermarket and more amenities such as restaurants and more bars, also available is a bank with a cash dispenser. There is also has a very helpful tourist office.

The Limousin / Auvergne / Creuse region

La Creuse is a very hilly and wooded region of France with hundreds of lakes and a spectacular countryside. It is known as the water tower of France because of the many springs and its geographical situation. It has numerous places to visit. Aubusson for example, (famous for its tapestries which can be seen in the making at the tourist office), is about 20 kms away . Evaux-les-Bain is a spa town which has thermal springs, a casino and for culture the Abbey and chateau. These are medieval towns which are so pleasant to stroll around and have a drink in a bar. Felletin has a good market, and in fact in most towns there is a market on at least one day a week. The Limousin is also famous for its gastronomy. There is an 18 hole golf course only 20 kms away in Gouzon.
Near Gueret is the Valley of the wolves where you can see the animals in their natural habitat.

Moutier Ahun area

4 kms from the house is the picturesque village of Moutier Ahun, the Abbey is famous for its sculptured woodwork. The river Creuse runs through this village and it is possible to fish, bath relax with a picnic and just watch the fish swim by in the clear water of the river. 6kms away is the Chateau of Villemonteix, with beautiful tapestries and steeped in history. There are many activities and "fêtes" organized by the different towns. The very helpful tourist office in Ahun, 3kms away, has the information of all organized activities. The view driving from Ahun to Lavaveix gives one a taste of the countryside you'll be looking at during your stay. The Valley of the wolves at Chabrieres on the way to Gueret is worth a visit too. The tourist office is very helpful and can give you information about the different activities such as markets or "fêtes" of the different towns.

The house is surrounded by hills, the garden is about 200 square metres and there is a field roughly 200 metres away where it is possible to play ball games in safety. The view in front of the house is very beautiful and rural. There are many interesting places to visit, within a 3 kilometres radius. : ex. A castle, a medieval abbey a church in the village of Moutier Ahun and also the cathedral of Ahun which is steeped in history to name just a few. Also about 6 kms away is a small lake which has a beach, mini golf and other activities for small children. No parking problems.

Fresh eggs, milk, bread, Nescafe and tea can be arranged with the person who will be there to welcome you given the time of our arrival.

Conditions

Strictly no smoking except in garden which is very pleasant to relax and think about your next days activities which can be very varied if you like sightseeing, walking, fishing or just relaxing by a lake.

Refundable deposit of €100 on arrival, can be an English cheque which will not be cashed if no damages
25% of rental fee due 6 weeks before your stay to secure booking.

Property is not suitabe for children under 5 because the staircase to the balcony is quite high.
