The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region

Provence has everything for the visitor. The house lies at the heart of an area with fabulous scenery and fields of sunflowers and lavender, olive groves and vineyards. Historic cities such as Avignon, Orange and Arles and scenic villages with their bars, restaurants and typical Provencal markets selling mouth watering local produce are all around. Village fetes and historical customs form part of the traditional lifestyle of each village and make a colourful spectacle.

It is a short drive to the sparkling Mediterranean sea with safe family beaches at Saintes Maries de la Mer and La Couronne, the port of Martigues has Venetian style canals and bridges. South and West of Arles is the unique landscape of the Camargue with its wild bulls, white horses and flamingoes. It is one of the great wildlife sites of Europe and a fascinating place to visit. In the summer children will enjoy the impressive displays of traditional skills put on by the cowboys (gardiens) who look after the wild bulls.

Mouries has 300 days of sunshine a year and even in winter the sky is often blue!

Mouries is a traditional Provencal village on the old olive route, two mills in the village still produce oil and sell it to visitors. The village has restaurants and bars, bakers, butchers and grocers, a chemist, banks and Post Office, a mini supermarket, florist and gift shops. There is a tourist information office doctors surgery and other amenities. The village newsagent has foreign language newspapers, including several English papers on the day of publication. The weekly market is a joy.

Visitors have a host of activities to enjoy, including walking in the Alpilles ("little Alps") or the Vallee des Baux, rock climbing, cycling, golf. bird watching in the nearby reserve of Peau de Meau, fishing, horse riding, painting in the footsteps of Van Gogh, exploring the Roman ruins or browsing around the numerous local markets in the picture postcard villages all around. The village has municipal tennis courts, children's play area and boules pitch.

Lovely Provencal villages (and their restaurants!) including Les Baux des Alpilles in its spectacular hilltop setting and St Remy de Provence, with numerous art galleries, are all around. The historic cities of Avignon, Arles and Nimes are close by and there are endless walking, cycling and rock climbing opportunities in and around the Alpilles . A beautifully set 18 hole golf course lies on the edge of the village. Beaches, old ports and the mysterious Camargue with its wild bulls and "gardiens" (cowboys) are all a short drive away.

"This rental thought of everything - even a French Dictionary"

This property is a new build but feels very French with it's blue shutters and french window leading to a terrace area, very welcoming. The garden is small but pretty and has a table and chairs … More

"A lovely house, well equpped in a beautiful location. We had a great holiday."

The housr had everything we needed, it was nicely decorated and clean. It is in a small gated community so we felt very safe. Neighbours were nice and friendly. Fell in love with the village, all the shops you needed.Lovely butchers and plenty of Bakers. The shop keepers also coped with my awful french.
We went for the birdwatching, Camargue and Pau du Mau were amazing, great area if you are into wildlife.
