About the home

Whispers Villa takes its name from the whispering of the wind in the trees, and of the waves on the shore below. The villa sits within ¾ acres of private grounds, with the beach less than 10 minutes’ walk away. The upper level boasts two air-conditioned en suite bedrooms, and an attractive living, dining and kitchen area. All rooms open directly to the spacious wraparound veranda and pool deck, featuring a 25’ infinity pool and jacuzzi, both with expansive views.

On the lower level is a third air-conditioned en suite bedroom, complete with its own living area and small kitchen - ideal for staff or for those requiring their own space. This suite has its own veranda, again with views over the Grenadines, and has stepped access to the upper pool deck. Both levels are equipped to the highest standards.

Cable TV and wireless broadband internet are both provided.

Kitchen

Open plan beechwood kitchen features Corian breakfast bar, American-style fridge freezer (with ice-maker and water dispenser), dishwasher, gas hob, electric oven and microwave.

Bedrooms

Each bedroom contains a solid oak bed and matching furniture, air-conditioning, and a mosquito net. Each bedroom opens out onto the balcony and has both an en suite bathroom and a walk in closet. The bedrooms have both 220V (European) and 110V (North American) electricity supplies, to cater for your personal essentials such as shavers and electric tooth brushes.

Bathrooms

Each bathroom is equipped with a large walk in shower, toilet, and a vanity unit incorporating the washbasin, storage and mirrors. Two of the bathrooms feature Corian counter tops. The master bedroom bathroom features a granite counter top and a particularly upmarket washbasin and tap/faucet.

Studio

The third of the three bedrooms is in the Studio apartment downstairs. The Studio is reached via a covered stairway from the main floor, ensuring you don’t get wet if it rains. As well as the bedroom, walk in closet and en suite bathroom (see Bedrooms, above) the Studio has its own small kitchen and living area with fridge freezer, dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, sofa, coffee table, flat screen TV and DVD player. The Studio also has its own 35 foot by 11 foot balcony, again with superb views, making the Studio ideal for teenagers, travelling staff or, indeed, anyone who wants a little extra privacy.

Balcony

The upper level of Whispers Villa features an 11 foot wide balcony that wraps round three sides of the building, affording spectacular views across to Mustique, down the Grenadines, and across the Ravine Bay valley. It also provides a rare view of the Ravine Bay Blowhole. Because the balcony wraps round the villa, there’s always an area in the shade, and always an area in the sun, whatever the time of day. To take advantage, Whispers comes equipped with high quality outdoor furniture: loungers, and a dining table and chairs for al fresco dining.

Terrace, Pool, Jacuzzi, Gazebo and Barbecue

The upper level balcony also provides access to the wide tiled terrace, featuring the 25 foot pool (4 feet 6 inches deep throughout) and the large outdoor jacuzzi. The pool has an infinity edge on three sides, to take advantage of the spectacular views and add to the pool’s luxurious feel. Both the pool and the jacuzzi are illuminated for romantic evenings.

Shade in this area is provided by the beautiful gazebo, under which sits the gas barbecue for those who like to cook their own food outdoors.

Gardens

Whispers Villa sits at the top of a ¾ acre plot of land. The upper area is landscaped relatively formally, with the lower two thirds deliberately left naturally wild. However, to make maximum use of this resource, the owners have built a concrete pathway, illuminated at night, which winds through the gardens to the bottom of the plot. This affords excellent access to the fruit tress - including lime, orange, mango, paw paw and avocado. At the end of the pathway is the gate you’ll pass through when walking to Ravine Bay beach - fewer than 10 minutes’ walk away.

Conditions

A 50% deposit secures the booking, with the balance payable 8 weeks before arrival. A $500 security deposit is also required.

The Bequia region

The tiny island of Bequia (pronounced Bekway) has a unique, magical charm which is hard to find anywhere else in the Caribbean. Just five miles long by two miles wide, and with fewer than six thousand inhabitants, it feels like home from the moment you arrive; friendliness is the watchword, and the pace is relaxed and easy-going.

Bequia fulfils many dreams of the perfect small Caribbean island: beautiful sandy beaches where more than ten people may constitute a crowd, lush green hillsides, attractive little villages, hardly any traffic, places to get together and places in which to find that perfect solitude.

The Mount Pleasant area

Mount Pleasant is a few minutes' drive from Port Elizabeth, the main town, but could be a world away. And Ravine Bay beach, a short walk from Whispers Villa, is one of the quietest on Bequia.

This island is just perfect for a quiet, romantic holiday without a rowdy nightlife.

“Best. Vacation. Ever.” After deciding our kids were finally old enough to get away from Disney-type trips, we chose Bequia for something truly different. We loved every minute of it and will absolutely return. Whispers itself was just fabulous, and we can't say enough about the gracious owners. They knew we were a bit concerned about our daughter staying in the lower level apartment somewhat away from the other bedrooms, so before we arrived, they had the local host install heavy lattice work around the lower balcony to give the doors a more secure feel. I can't even begin to list all the personal touches similar to that. Absolutely recommend. If I had to list a complaint, there would be two. One, our local hostess was pretty late at pick-up. It was fine, she had a perfectly good reason, but we did sit on the curb alone at the tiny airport for awhile and wonder if maybe we'd made a huge mistake in coming! The other complaint (if you can really call it that) was that the jeep we leased from the hostess was a bit rough and difficult to shift. It made traversing the steep hills a little more exciting than it needed to be for us flatlanders. Neither of those minor inconveniences would give me even the slightest second thought about booking again, but we will probably choose a different car rental company next time around.
