A traditional, Moorish four bed village house in Lujar tucked away in the mountains with stunning views. Like a tardis, it sleeps up to ten people. Lujar is the only pueblo with sea views on this coastline. Free use of beautiful pool, tennis courts and football pitch in the village.

The house is entered via a wrought iron gate and blue front door leading to a porch with tennis rackets, sun umbrellas and beach mats for guests to use. Steep marbled steps lead up to the rest of the house, passing the master bedroom on the way.

The master bedroom has a small balcony overlooking the mountains and sea. Double doors open at the bottom of the bed so you wake up to a wonderful view of the mountains and sea, watching the birds pick the grapes of the vines on the balcony and listening to the distant chime of the goats bells on the hills. It has a tv video combi, an electric fan and lots of wardrobe space.

This room has also has an adjoining children's bedroom with either two single children's beds or two fold down z beds and a full size camp bed.

More steps take you to the lower sitting room. There is a tv video combi, a chest of drawers full of games including table tennis, scrabble etc and a sofa which pulls out into 2 full size single beds. It has a ceiling fan and gas fire.

Beyond this is the dining room with a large traditional table and 10 traditional rush seat chairs. This is the table that can be used for a table tennis game. You'll find dozens of videos and a shelf of guide books and maps.It has a ceiling fan and radiator.

Through the dining room, is the kitchen, a large traditional Spanish kitchen with beautiful Moroccan and terracotta tiled work tops, a painted sink and curtain fronted cupboards. In the corner is a large wood burning stove which heats the entire floor. It is fully equipped with a large oven, micro wave and fridge freezer. It has a washing machine, a tumble dryer and an electric fan.

Off the kitchen is a laundry and small play area with a basket of toys along with the linen cupboard.

A door off the play room leads to the bathroom, a wonderful room fully tiled in traditional Andalusian tiles with a pretty ceramic basin. The full size bath has a shower over.

Also off the play area, you'll find a lovely little double room (the blue bedroom) with beamed ceilings, a converted stable with 2 small windows, drawers, clothes rail, electric fan and wardrobe just outside between the bedroom and blue bathroom.

A winding stair case with painted window leads from the lower sitting room to the top floor where there is the blue sitting room - a Moroccan styled area with large sofas, comfy chair, a TV Video combi with DVD player, CD and cassette player and a selection of dvds and cds, along with a dock for iPod. It has a ceiling fan and a window and large double doors opening onto the terrace with amazing mountain and sea views.

At the back of the house, on this level is the shower room with a modern power shower with massage heads and jets. Next to this, you'll find the kids room with bunk beds and an adjoining door that can be opened to link to the apartment if both places are rented or kept locked if not.

There are three large terraces with the house and the lower one has an arched covered area with a hammock, a dining table seating 12 and a bbq - and arches leading to the sun area where there is a sofa area with chairs and loungers. There are power points throughout the terraces and lighting. From this terrace, there are steep stairs to the upper sun deck with four sun loungers, another hammock and a caned roof for shade. It is completely private.

From that terrace there are a couple of steps to another terrace which has a large clothes dryer and a basket ball hoop and an area for a huge paddling pool. There is a lockable gate to link to the next door terraces for the apartment if both places are rented together. Amazing views of mountains behind and sea in front from all the terraces. On a clear day, you can even see Morocco!

You need a rental car here.

We rent the house out when we are not using it and although the wardrobes will be clear, you will find it full of our own things as this is our second home. We ask that you replace any food or toiletries, washing powder etc that you finish with the same. (Everything can be bought at Al Campo – the large supermarket in Motril). We want you to be able to use our toys, videos, tennis rackets or whatever but do take care of them.

There is are 4 tvs and DVDs scattered thoughout the house, free wi fi, lots of books, games and films. Beach towels and towels are included and all bedding. There are electirc fans either on the ceiling or free standing in each room and radiators in each room for the winter.

There is parking close up by but its not suitable for infirm as steep uneven paths and stairs.

Cleaning at the end is on top as is laundry. Cost is dependent on numbers. It is available any time except last 3 weeks of july and first 3 weeks of August and from 4-11th April.

Pool is open end of June til mid Sept.

If you want all mod cons, then this is not really for you but if you want authentic village Spain, with privacy and without the tourists, then it's perfect.

The Andalucia region

The best thing about Lujar is the tranquility. You really do feel that time has stood still. The villagers are friendly and you can just sit and watch life pass you by - at times you can see ploughs on the fields from the bar, olives being collected or almonds shelled. At the end of August theres fiesta and you'll share in a 12 feet in diameter tortilla cooked in the piazza, games for the kids, flamenco and incredibly firework displays. You'll discover how to buy fresh bread from the delivery van each day (he speaks English!) and fruit, veg, fish and meat from other vans that also come to the village each day to sell their wares. If you yearn for some action, its only a short drive to the beach and bars of Castell and a half hour drive will get you to the pretty busier, tourist beaches at Salobrena with gorgeous restaurants and bars.

There is a bus that goes daily down to the beach but it leaves early - you really can't stay in Lujar without a car. There is a bus from Malaga so if friends are coming at a later time, they can get the bus and you can collect them from the bottom of the mountain.

I use the house at certain times in the school holidays and am around if you need me and if you rent both house and apartment, my neighbour will be your contact.
