Mosfellsbaer

Mosfellsbaer suits those who like nature, purity like pure air, pure water and family friendly environment.

Mosfellsbaer and its area is a peaceful and lovely neighbourhood, the surroundings are beautiful with mountains on one side and the ocean on the other.

Our Nobel prize winner in literature (1955), Halldor Laxnes lived in the Valley of Mosfellsbaer, Mosfellsdalur, at Gljufrasteinn and his home is now a museum, a visit really worth it. In Mosfellsdalur is also a horse rental and a lively market with products from the farmers in the valley (only during the summertime).

The wool history began in Mosfellsbaer and the old wool-factory buildings still stand and house now a souvenir shop besides a small museum with pictures and objects from the early days of the wool-industry in Iceland.
