The Central Russia/Moscow region
This is a well-known and popular area stretching from the busy commercial area along the Garden Ring road to the quiet neighborhoods abutting the Moscow river embankment. Smolenskaya has a number of landmarks, including the Smolensky Passage shopping mall, Golden Ring hotel and Old Arbat Street. There is a very developed social infrastructure, including bars, clubs and restaurants, as well as shops and supermarkets.
Close to (on the opposite bank of the Moscow River) are the Kievsky railway station and the Radisson-Slavjanskaya hotel. You can easily access them by using the new pedestrian bridge built between the Rostovskaya and Berezhkosvkaya embankments.
Moscow area
As with most well-known areas it is possible to find some exclusive new elite buildings, as well as more spacious and affordable apartments with good views and pleasant courtyards. Smolenskaya Square gives directly access to Stary Arbat, which is Moscow’s most famous old street.
Since the 18th century, the majority of well-known noble families and aristocrats have lived in the Arbat district. Now it is a pedestrian-only street that is popular with tourists and expatriates; souvenir stalls, street artists and a multitude of street cafes make it a very pleasant place to visit in the summertime. Christ-the-Savior Church, Gorki Park and pedestrian Old Arbat are the main attractions to visit within the "Golden Mile" area.
