The Central Russia/Moscow region
Tverskaya Ulitsa is without doubt Moscow’s most famous street. The neighborhood is home to a large number of office buildings, restaurants, cafes, fashion boutiques and other shops and this area is a lively place 24-hour a day. In fact, Tverskaya Street is the most expensive shopping street in Moscow and Russia. It is the centre of the city's nightlife and entertainment.
Tverskaya Ulitsa starts at Okhotny Ryad which is adjacent to Red Square, and stretches for several kilometers north-west through Pushkin Square and Triumphalnaya Square (otherwise known as Mayakovskaya). This area has some of the most exclusive boutiques and shops in Moscow, as well as a large number of famous restaurants, café, bars and nightclubs. Tverskaya is also home to the famous tsarist Yeliseevsky food store. Tverskaya is an up market neighborhood and prices correspond accordingly.
There is plenty of accommodation to choose from. If you find Ulitsa Tverskaya too busy there are a number of quiet side streets to choose from, including Bryusov pereulok, Romanov pereulok and Leontovsky pereulok. Metro stations in this neighborhood include Mayakovskaya, Pushkinskaya, Chekhovskaya, Tverskaya and Okhotny Ryad.
Moscow area
Tverskaya is the main street of Moscow, starting from the Kremlin and going north through all Moscow to change into Leningradskoe shosse, which leads to Tver and after 700 km to St. Petersburg.
Tverskaya street is a wide central avenue bustling with life, with large buildings on the sides where there are various shops, clubs, cafes, and restaurants inside. Life around (small streets, garden boulevards) is quite calm, making Tverskaya one of the nicest areas to walk around or go out.
