Chalet Jordan
About the home
Chalet Jordan is a traditional chalet full of old fashioned Alpine charm with many delightful local touches. The chalet is situated in the secluded, sunny little village of Essert la Pierre, just 3 miles from the lifts of the ski resorts of Morzine and Avoriaz. The best local ski access to the Portes du Soleil ski area is at the nearby Ardent Telecabine which gives an easy link to Avoriaz and has ample free car parking. Despite it's traditional Savoyard style, the chalet is extremely well equipped. If ever you should tire of supping wine around the roaring fire in the sitting area , you have several "apres ski" options.
After a tiring day on the slopes there is nothing better than the chalet's Swedish sauna to ease the aching muscles. The sauna opens out onto a small sitting area where you can cool off between sessions, sipping a cool glass of water(!)
If you are looking for something more active the table tennis table in the garage is always popular. Many week long tournaments have kept our clients amused.
And finally for the activity averse we provide satellite TV with a Sky Sports and Films. Premiership football and a good selection of films can be sampled when the weather is bad or the limbs give out. Downstairs, life revolves around a large open plan kitchen area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas hob, an oven, a fridge and a dishwasher. At the other end of this room is a delightful wood fire around which are grouped easy chairs and a low table. In an adjacent area there is a long traditional farmhouse table at which up to 10 can eat in comfort. The mezzanine on the first floor is set aside as a TV, DVD and games area, ideal for keeping the young occupied on the odd day in.
Two of the bedrooms, a twin and a double, are on the ground floor and they have their own bathroom and separate toilet. Upstairs the other two bedrooms, a family room and a double, also have their own shower room and separate toilet. Outside is an enclosed garden with a beautiful wooden mini chalet for children to play in. There is also a ski store, parking for up to four cars and a garage. There is a laundry room with washing machine, this is where the central heating boiler sits and is ideal for drying boots and clothes after a hard day's skiing.
The village is charming and views across the valley from the chalet are splendid. Our clients often stay in for one or two days tobogganing on the slope behind the chalet or practising cross country skiing around the village.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region

The Haute Savoie covers the Northern part of the French Alps. This area has welcomed travellers and tourists in both Winter and Summer for centuries. Annecy, Chamonix and Geneva (just over the border in Switzerland) are perhaps the most well known of its towns.
In Summer the climate is warm and sunny, just right for an active holiday in the clear mountain air!
The Morzine area
Morzine is a centre for both Winter and Summer holidays. In Winter we attract skiers and snowboarders from all over the world. In Summer the mountains provide a fantastic backdrop to the town which offers many activities to the active holiday maker. Perhaps the most popular today is mountain biking, but we prefer the hiking, the pool and the tennis.

I stayed here with my family of four in August 2011 for a two week stay. The chalet was immaculate on arrival and there is lots of space in all the bedrooms and in the open plan living area. We travelled with our two children under 3 and the chalet is really great for children as there is a contained garden with a play chalet in it and for older children there is a table tennis and table football room. The village in which the chalet is situated is traditional, tranquil and within very easy reach of Morzine. Highly recommended. |

We stayed at Chalet Jordan towards the end of the winter season, a great time to travel with young children as it's sunnier and the days less cold. I couldn't recommend it more. As far as I'm concerned, as long as you have a car, its location couldn't be better. It's in the middle of an old traditional Alpine village, which has more charm than staying in the resort, plus there are lots of great walks on your doorstep. There is the biggest supermarket a five minute drive away and the skiing at Avoriaz is easy to get to thanks to the super car-park and fast lift at Ardent (perhaps Morzine's best kept secret in terms of lifts) The chalet was great for kids. Huge bedrooms and a lovely garden with their own 'Alpage' to play in meant they couldn't be happier. For grownups, there were games, a sauna and English TV. The chalet came with all the kitchen items you could need. We found it clean and nicely decorated in a traditional Alpine style. All in all, a great stay. We'll be coming back and couldn't recommend it more... |

Everything went well for our holiday, especially the weather. Chalet Jordan was welcoming , warm, clean, and exactly suited the needs of our family group of 10. Kitchen was well equipped and convenient. Essert la Pierre is a very quiet location with good local walks. With a car (necessity), shops and several ski and sledging runs are only minutes away. Thanks, Steve and Lynn for your help and advice in fixing everything up for our stay. Regards The Truscotts

Dear Steve & Lynn We had a most enjoyable stay in Chalet Jordan when we were there recently. From our point of view i.e Pat & I plus Stephen & Elaine could not fault the Chalet in anyway. It is well appointed with every thing you need to make a holiday successful. One little touch we thought was excellent, was the food left for us on arrival. The Chalet was clean and nothing has been spared in the furnishings and all the other useful items most families have at home. We are already making plans to return in 2008 and we will be making a firm booking within the next day or two, providing the half term week in February 2008 is available Your own help is of value and the courteous manner in which you deal with your clients. We hope this is satisfactory for your needs and we look forward to another visit. Doug & Pat Stephen & Elaine

Chalet Jordan is large and extremely comfortable being within easy reach of any of the main lift areas on the Portes Du Soleil and supported by a great local Champion supermarket (much cheaper than the Shoppi in Morzine). Those considering this chalet should not be put off by the driving (it is easy) or the location. The snow was fabulous and the skiing was probably the best ever to date so we are already making our plans for next year!! The Morris and O,Rourke party

Chalet Jordan is a great chalet with a real traditional alpine feel about it.It is perfect for our group’s needs with plenty of room and freedom to move around. The sauna proved a god send, a great way to relax after a day’s skiing. One or two of our party felt there could be some more sofas in the lounge area. On the whole though we love the chalet and are already making plans to stay there again next year. Steve Acton
