Host Savoie Chalet Thalassa
Chalet | 11 bedrooms | sleeps 23
This chalet is ideally situated between Morzine and the snowsure slopes of Avoriaz, in the world's largest linked ski area - Les Portes du Soleil. It is run on a catered basis in winter and our emphasis is on extra mile service at prices that won't break the bank. Together with our team we will prepare delicious 3 course meals on 6 out of 7 nights and these are served with red and white wine. Our catered prices also include buffet breakfasts and afternoon tea with delicious fresh cakes every day. Within the chalet we have our own ski hire stock, a well-stocked bar, a hot tub with spectacular views and a sauna. What more could anyone ask for than all this, under the same roof and at a great price!
Chalet Thalassa has 11 bedrooms and sleeps up to 23, and unlike many chalets the communal facilities are more than adequate for this large number. The ground floor has 4 ensuite rooms as well as the bar, ski room, sauna and spare bathroom. The first floor is dominated by the big living room and separate dining room (with access to the hot tub on the terrace) and on this floor we also have a quad family suite comprising 2 rooms with a shared bathroom. The large detached kitchen is on this floor and this is where our chef will prepare fabulous dinners for you without disturbing your apres ski! The remaining bedrooms are on the top floor and consist of a quad and a twin with ensuite facilities as well as two twins and a single that share 3 showers and 2 WCs.
Our chalet staff have their own accommodation so as to leave you in peace at the end of the day. That said, you can see as little or as much of us as you wish and we are always on hand to help with anything from accompanied skiing to the booking of lunch tables.

The Rhone/French Alps region
The Portes du soleil is now the largest internationally linked ski area in the world, spanning 12 resorts across the Franco-Swiss border.
The slopes of Morzine-Les Gets are ideal for beginners or the less experienced skier and offer a good selection of tree-lined motorway runs between the two resorts.
For the more adventurous skier it is advisable to head to the higher slopes of Avoriaz for more challenging pistes, terrain parks and some awesome off piste action.
From here the lift system opens up a wealth of opportunities on both sides of the border and it is even possible to complete the circuit in a full day. For adrenalin junkies why not tackle the infamous 'Swiss Wall' between Avoriaz and Les Crosets (but don't forget your passport!).
This charming wonderful town is the ideal base for people of all ages and acts as the perfect gateway to some of the most fantastic skiing on earth.
And a little over 1 hour from the Geneva Airport there are no long transfers to endure and visitors arrive swiftly in a winter wonderland in this traditional community with unique hospitality.
The town boasts better facilities than most ski resorts due to its long historic development from a farming community, and there really is something for everyone both on and off the slopes.

Thalassa isn't in the same league as quality ski chalets (and doesn't aim to be). The market Haut Savoie are targeting is the budget end so don't expect top notch food/service. For exam… More
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and we are sorry to hear that the chalet didn't live up to expectations. I believe that you were part of the group booked through a solo traveller agency and the service that we provide at the chalet may not have been communicated adequately in advance.
Anyone booking direct will see clearly from our website that rooms are not serviced on a daily basis (most of our customers prefer their private space to remain that way for the duration of their stay) and that we offer the equivalent of 2 glasses of wine per person with dinner. The reason for that is simple and transparent... we have a bar and we would like you to spend money in there! Our 3 other chalets are priced higher to include cheese and port after dinner and unlimited wine. As you rightly point out, we are aiming to offer a good value option in a market saturated with luxury chalets.
With regards the food that we provide we have had many excellent comments from people this year (in real life rather than from behind the anonymity of a username). Your opinion is equally valid but it is a pity that we were not given the chance to speak to you at the time. The two dishes that you mention are usually very popular and to answer your two questions directly:
1) A sausage cassoulet is hardly an unusual dish in France and the sausages come from the local butcher.
2) Bread and butter pudding made with croissants is a French twist on a classic favourite for a client base that is 99% British. The croissants are baked in house for this purpose and are not simply breakfast leftovers. We have far more leftover bread every day but choose to use croissants!
It sounds like we won't be seeing you again in Morzine and if you were one of the many nice members of the group (as opposed to the one who urinated in the hot tub) I am sorry that your stay was not all that you had hoped for.
