There is so much to do, you can leave the car at the chalet and explore by foot or bike, or for those that want to travel further afield you can enjoy the views from the winding mountain roads from the comfort of your car. Following are some of the activities available to you in the area:

With the Portes du Soleil Multi Pass (free for stays of 7 nights) you can enjoy unrestricted activities for all the family from For those under 5 years old the Multi Pass is free.

•swimming pools and lakeside facilities

•ski lifts for walkers

•cultural sites

•tennis

•ice rinks

•tourist trains

•shuttle service between resorts

•850km of hiking trails

Hiking

Hiking is very popular in the mountains and there are numerous trails for differing levels of ability, with or without using the chair lifts. The views are stunning and the air is clean – what more could you ask for!!

Mountain Biking

Morzine/Les Gets and Linderet are all great places for mountain bikers and Morzine's central position means you can freewheel down to the village from most of the Portes du Soleil ski lifts during the summer months. The area includes:

•650km of way marked trails

•10 permanent downhill trails

•4 bike parks

•Trials areas

•24 ski lifts open to mountain bikers

•At the end of June, an unmissable event attended by thousands of enthusiasts: the MTB Pass'Portes du Soleil

Les Gets Golf Club (18 holes)

We are members of the golf club at Les Gets and believe that it has some of the best views available as well as being enjoyable to play. The course is challenging and quite tiring as you'd expect in the mountains, but buggies are plentiful. We would highly recommend anyone who plays golf to give it a go and if you are looking for someone to play with, I'm sure it wouldn't take much to persuade Steve to join you if you need someone to play with!

Avoriaz has a 9 hole golf course which looks less challenging than Les Gets, but also with exceptional views but probably easier on the legs!

Summer Sledge Run

For adults and children alike you can't beat racing each other down the summer sledge run on the Pleney slopes.

Paragliding

For the more adventurous why not take advantage of the many companies offering you the opportunity to jump off a mountain and enjoy the fabulous views as you glide you way down to Morzine.

Whitewater Activities

All professionally supervised, if you want a thrill you can do any or all of the following:

•Rafting (river descent in an inflatable canoe paddled by several people)

•Hot-dog (small boat similar to a raft, but smaller)

•Hydrospeeding (whitewater swimming using a float and flippers)

•Canoeing/kayaking (river descent by rigid canoe)

Eating out

No holiday is complete without a visit or two to some good restaurants and bars and Morzine has something for every occasion and if you want something a bit closer, you're only a short walk walk away from the 2 restaurants and bars situated in the centre of Montriond. As we love to eat our ourselves, we'll be happy to make reservations and bookings for you.

Chalet Amuse Bouche is situated in the pretty area of Montriond, one of the 12 resorts linked to the Portes Du Soleil. Montriond is connected to Morzine and is closest to the very fast Ardent telecabine (preferred by Morzine locals)

Here is why we think the location an excellent choice for your holiday winter or summer…

•We can get you to the heart of the Avoriaz ski area 10-15 mins quicker than if you were staying in a central Morzine chalet.

•8 minutes to the Ardent telecabine, which itself takes 4 minutes up to the beautiful Lindarets bowl. So you can be skiing IN LESS than 15 mins after leaving the chalet!

•From Lindarets, you can access Avoriaz, Chatel and Mosettes ski areas in just 1 lift ride

•No lifts are required to return to the Ardent! You can ski right down to the carpark where we will meet you and whisk you back to the Chalet for coffee and cakes, giving you time to also relax in the hot tub or sauna.

•Alternatively we can drop you off and pick you up at the Pleney so that you access Morzine and Les Gets ski areas (120km and very pretty).

•Non-skiiers can take the 4 minute Ardent telecabine up to meet their group for lunch in Lindarets if they wish, so that everyone can enjoy the mountain restaurants together.

•You can be skiing in Switzerland with only 2 chairlifts from the Lindarets bowl!

•Beginner skiiers can get to the lessons in Lindarets with no tricky chairlifts or pistes to navigate so they can keep their confidence intact.

•It is only a 5 minute drive to Morzine or 2 minutes to Montriond. It's quick and easy to visit town to go shopping, have dinner or visit the bars on our night off from cooking. We can offer a lift into town in the evening after dinner for those wishing to carry on the party outside of the chalet and you can get a taxi home in 5 mins.

•You can walk to the bars and restaurants in Montriond Village in 10-12 mins and Morzine in 20-25 mins. In the summer you can take the very beautiful river route through the shaded wooded area.

•Also in the summer you can walk along the river to Lac Montriond, which only takes approx 20 mins.

•The views - Whilst relaxing in the hot-tub or on the balcony or terraces at the back of the chalet, you can enjoy unobstructed views of Mont Chery and the surrounding area.

•We are situated in a no through road, with no traffic noise or piste bashers grinding away whilst you try to sleep, so we feel that whilst you are in the heart of the Portes Du Soleil, you can relax in a tranquil environment whilst still being close enough to the buzz of Morzine.

Our aim is for you to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the location without missing out on being in the centre of the action and we will do our best to help you have a great holiday and accommodate you wherever possible.

The Rhone/French Alps region

An absolutely fabulous location for skiing/boarding in the Winter for a catered holiday or an activity holiday in the Summer.

The Portes Du Soleil Ski Area

The Portes du Soleil ski resort offers something for everyone, regardless of their ability. Our chalet is ideally situated for accessing the 650 km of ski slopes.

The Portes du Soleil has been one of the biggest players in world skiing for the last 40 years, with 12 linked resorts either side of the French-Swiss border just an hour from Geneva: Abondance, Avoriaz, Châtel, La Chapelle d'Abondance, Les Gets, Montriond, Morzine-Avoriaz, St Jean d'Aulps, Champéry, Morgins, Torgon, Val-d'Illiez – Les Crosets – Champoussin.

This genuine Natural Powder Reserve at the heart of the Alps offers skiers unspoilt surroundings, mountain lifts that keep a low profile amid snowbound forests, pistes that wind their way through snow meadows, spruces and mountain chalets that have stood the test of time.

The ski area enjoys exceptionally good snowfall from mid-November to the end of April, with an average of 8m of powder every year.

The Portes du Soleil offers visitors a unique ski experience that we call “ski safari” – just click into your bindings and go exploring from resort to resort, valley to valley – and even from country to country!!

The Portes du Soleil ski area is open from 22 December 2012 to 15 April 2013. (From 15 to 21 April the area will be partially open)

The Portes du Soleil in numbers:

•286 slopes: 27 black, 104 red, 122 blue, 33 green

•195 mountain lifts

•650 km of groomed slopes

•11 snowparks

•90 slopeside restaurants

•694 snow cannons guaranteeing snow all season !
