About this location
The Rhône-Alpes region
Morzine is one of the twelve villages which makes up the massive Portes du Soleil in the Northern Alps. It is a picturesque town with excellent facilities for both winter and summer. Morzine is a popular resort with a little something for everyone. People wanting to experience a traditional small town ambiance, with plenty of opportunities for shopping and eating out and a varied nightlife, will love it. Families looking for entertainment and good children's facilities will also find lots to do to keep the younger ones happy.
It is well linked into the extensive Portes du Soleil area and has a frequent ski bus service around the town and to the main lifts. It also has its own fairly extensive ski area, linked via the newly refurbished Pleney lift to Les Gets. There are also excellent links to the higher resort of Avoriaz.
Far from being just a tourist resort, Morzine is a charming and bustling small market town, and it's agricultural heritage is still very much in evidence. In the summer one can enjoy the two golf courses, one in Avoriaz and one in Les Gets. There are also extensive walking trails, mountain biking, road biking, via ferrata, paragliding, all available for all ages and abilities.
The neighbouring resort of Les Gets, just 6km away by road, or across the mountains with skis, has become something of a mountain biking mecca in recent years, often playing host to national and international competitions.
Situated at the confluence of several mountain streams, Morzine can also offer white knuckle whitewater activities on the River Dranse. By car it is also easy to visit some of the most beautiful parts of the Haute Savoie - Annecy, Mont Blanc, Les Aravis for example - and Lake Geneva and its attractions are not far away.
Along with it's smaller neighbour, Les Gets, just 6km away by road, or across the mountain on skis, the area has become something of a mountain biking mecca in recent year - often playing host to national and international competitions.
Morzine is just a short 1 hour transfer from Geneva airport and can be reached by minibus transfers, local buses, train to Thonon or Cluses, or taxi. It is also only a 9 hour drive from the northern French coast.

Great apartment, close to Pleney. The apartment had everything we needed. Bunk bed area has a curtain for privacy which my son loved (his own den) To use the old VHS recorder the scart lead needed swapping at the back. The TV could do with upgrading as we thought it was a bit smll, but we were not really there to watch TV. It had a sky box so maybe taking your own viewing card might work.
We would stay here again.
Ski hire shop that was recommended was great, no more walking back in ski boots.
