About the home

Le Gite: detached, tranquil. Exposed beams. Bright with modern kitchen, dishwasher, etc. Comfortable seating, SKY TV. Fitting mostly new. Elec radiators which you control, elec is included. First bedroom with king-size bed and sitting area. Second bedroom has 2 single beds.

Heated pool, shared with only 2 other gites. Open 2nd June to 1st September.

Outside your own garden area + BBQ. Heated swimming pool (23C) open from 2nd June - 31 st August 2012. Attractive gardens with croquet court 20 x 10 yds, (equipment provided). Easy access to Mont St Michel, St Malo, the Bayeux tapestry and WW2 sites. Great restaurants. Towns and villages, street markets and bakeries.
Not suitable for anyone who has trouble going up or down stairs or walking on gravel or uneven surfaces.

The Normandy / Manche region

Our area of Normandy reminds us of the most attractive bits of our native Shropshire but with more space and far less traffic. It is a gently rolling, green area of farmland and country lanes. Normandy is famed for its butter and cheese and the cows which facilitate this. The Norman "Bocage", mounded tree-crowned earth lining the lanes or dividing fields, is also famous and was a big factor in the Allied invasion of 1944. The region abounds with the history of WW2.

Roads with very little traffic allow easy access in under 20 minutes: zoos and theme parks, 2nd world war sites, lakes, fishing and golf. Local towns and villages proud of their bakeries and special street markets. Within 1 hour: Mont St Michel, St Malo old town, Caen, the coast with wonderful sandy beaches, ferry day trips to Channel Isles.

The Mortain / Le Mesnil Gilbert area

There are wonderful restaurants over the whole of the area. From very posh at just over 30€ per person for a sumptuous 3-course meal to many modest places serving great food where you can have lunch of 4-courses - often including wine and/or cider for about11€!
Mont St Michel is the most famous attraction and is the second most visited site in France. Out of this world.

The Tapestry at Bayeau is a must. The Botanical Gardens in Avranches. The old town of St Malo. Villedieu Les Poeles (God's Town of the Frying Pans!) where copper and brass are produced and church bells exported.
The waterfalls at Mortain.

The Zoo at Champrepus and the Enchanted Village near Mortain are always hits with the children. Every town has its own market - the most "French" is St Hilare on Wednesdays.

Ryanair Stansted or East Midalands (in season Birmingham) to Dinard. A car can be hired at Dinard (much cheaper to arrange car in advance).

There are cheap ferries from Dover to Bologne or Dover to Dunkirk (Norfolk Lines). LD lines run Portsomouth to Le Havre.

“Relaxing and friendly week away” Le Gite provided a wonderful relaxed holiday as a family with two small girls. Clean, well equiped and safe it provided the perfect location to potter around the pool as well as take in some lovely Normandy sites. Once away from the pool we made it to Mont St Michel, Mortain and beaches (Carolles) all of which were different and interesting. “La Gite - Peter & Jenny” We have, my husband, myself and our two children aged 10 and 7 years old, just returned from a great week staying at La Gite with Peter & Jenny. It is a fab place in the middle of nowhere with absolute peace and quiet. The children enjoyed the swimming pool and crocquet games, although we weren't blessed with the best weather. Peter and Jenny made us very welcome and where to hand when needed. La Gite was spotless and had everything we needed to be more than comfortable. We went out to the beach, the zoo, the waterfalls and best of all Mont St Michel, all of which are within easy reach. “The best gite we have stayed in” Have recently returned from a relaxing stay in Le Gite at La Hallotiere. Very clean and well-equipped gite with friendly, helpful owners and beautiful green grounds and surroundings. The swimming pool was a hit with our 2-year old. “Family Friendly Le Gite” This Gite was the most cleanest holiday home that we have ever stayed in and provided everything we needed for an enjoyable week in Normandy. Myself, my wife and our two young children have had one of the best holidays and all thanks goes to Peter and Jenny for providing a welcoming and comfortable place to stay. It is situated within the peaceful countryside perfect for those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle and just relax. There are plenty of sights to see; D-Day Beaches, Bayeaux and the beaches at Carolles and St-Par-sur-Mer are amazing. For those with young children (ours are 2 and 5) Festy Land is a must see as well as the Zoo De Champrepus. Overall we would highly recommend the Gite. We will certainly be returning. “most wonderful relaxing holiday ever perfect” My wife and I had the pleasure of staying in the most perfect gite in Manche Normandy. It had everything you could wish for to make our stay more than comfortable. Le Gite is situated in the Normandy countryside and less than an hours drive from the nearest coastline. Sat in about an acre of well kept gardens along with two other Gites and a swimming pool.It had its own private little garden and sitting area wich was perfect for relaxing. Peter @Jenny were great hosts very helpful when needed but not at all intrusive. Lots of places to visit and things to do all within reasonable distance a car is a must though. Do not miss out on a visit to Mont ST Michel a fantastic place to see. Most of the nearby towns and villages have a market day where you can buy fresh locally grown produce,meat , fish and other things a most enjoyable experience. All in all I would have to say that this was one of the most relaxing ,enjoyable holidays we have ever had . “Beautifully appointed gite in a quiet and tranquil location hidden away from the hustle and bustle o” We have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing 12 days in The Gite at Hallotiere. It is a quiet and tranquil location hidden away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The Gite is beautifully appointed, immaculately kept and equipped with everything you would expect to find in your own home (including kettle!!!). We had numerous memorable days out following the itinerary put together by our gracious hosts, Jenny and Peter whose local knowledge was interesting and very informative. When not out, we loved spending time playing croquet, and sitting drinking local cider and admiring the rural views from the picturesque gardens that the property stands in. We have recommended this holiday to all our friends and we hope to return next year. Thank you Jenny and Peter. Recommended for: Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

FIFE We have been spending our holidays in France for many years. Our family all agree that Le Gite is far and away the finest that we have stayed in.

DUNBLANE We have been longtime and fairly frequent visitors to Normandy and last year were fortunate to find probably the best gite we have ever stayed in.

SHROPSHIRE Set in delightful grounds La Hallotiere is tastefully furnished to a high standard. Every modern convenience is included, we also made use of the swimming pool and extensive gardens. We would recommend this site to anyone.

TELFORD Peter and Jenny, were superb hosts finding the right balance throughout. They seemed to be there when we needed their guidance as to a suitable day out, but never invaded our privacy
