La Fleuriais occupies a secluded location in fully enclosed gardens, with open views of rolling countryside from the south-facing rear down to the River Sée (excellent trout fishing), 1 mile from Chérencé le Roussel which has local store/bar and boulangerie, and 5 miles from Brécey with large supermarket and shops. A plethora of fine eateries is at hand, from gourmet restaurants to brasseries and pizzerias. It is said that when Parisians want a really good dinner, they come to South Normandy!

The Normandy / Manche region
Situated roughly midway between Avranches and Vire, and only 30 miles from the magnificent Le Mont St. Michel, one of France's most visited attractions, La Fleuriais is ideally placed to explore 1,000 years of European history, from the walled city of Falaise (birthplace of William the Conqueror) to the landing beaches of Operation Overlord of WW2. All this culture can be imbibed with a glass or two of Calvados (local apple brandy - try it on fruit salad!) and a galette (savoury pancake).
Fabulous sandy beaches are a little further afield: 40 mins uncongested drive to Joulouville, but well worth it if you fancy a day at the seaside.
Mortain area
The River Sée (1/2 mile) is famous for the quality of its' trout fishing.
The surrounding countryside is hilly and very scenic though (almost) horizontal walks are close by around Lake Dathée (9 miles), 6.1 km all the way round; golf and fishing at the same location.
There are interesting medieval churches and a convent nearby to visit.

25% deposit required on booking. Balance due 2 weeks before arrival.
A well behaved dog is allowed but, sorry, no cats or goldfish.
Smoking is permitted, but ground floor only please.
Refundable breakages deposit of £150 deposit required on or before arrival, returned in full (subject to losses) within 1 week of departure.

Guestbook for La Fleuriais
"La fleuriais is in a beautiful and quiet area with wonderful views overlooking open farmland and hills in the background.
It is in a good location with the small town of Brecey approx. 10 minutes away which has all the necessary food shops, especially the all-important patisserie.
The cottage is traditionally built of stone and has many lovely features. All the room are spacious and comfortable.
The owners, who live 15 minutes away, are very helpful and accommodating (especially as they are English, so language is not a problem).
We have stayed at La Fleuriais twice and plan to return. We would highly recommend it".
