The Fuerteventura region
The Climate; Warm climate all year round – desert like. Hot and dry in the summer and warm with minimal rain in the winter, making it popular in the winter months as well as in the summer. Coastal breezes make it ideal for wind and kite surfing. The sea is warm and clean and suitable for all watersports. The apartments are sheeltered from the breeze, which is seldom if ever cold!
The Region; Fuerteventura is the largest of the Canary Islands and the least populated making it probably the most tranquil of the islands, especially in the South. It has some of the finest beaches in the Canaries and dramatic volcanic interior.
With over 300 days of sunshine and unhurried atmosphere it is ideal for a restful holiday destination, perfect for getting away from it all! An excellent location for a couple, a family with 1 or 2 children and for the more mature generations.
Main Attractions; The beach is about 22km long with golden sand and clean sea. Many water sports are available including wind surfing (there is a school nearby), fishing, sailing, kite surfing, jet ski, belly board surfing, diving and deep sea diving. Other sports include golf, tennis, cycling, mountain biking, trike biking and motocross biking.
Local Excursions; Explore the island by bus or hire a car. There are plenty of places to walk to. Lots of long sandy beaches all within a short drive. Visit the Botanical Garden, Cactus Farm and Animal Park at La Lajita or take a boat trip. You can even try camel riding.
Morro Jable / Jandia area
Jandia in the south of the island. Once there you do not necessarily need a car as all local amenities are close by, unless you want to go exploring the island.
The south is less populated than the north of the Island and is warmer and greener.
The sandy beach stretches north east from Morro Jable to Costa Calma. it is possible to walk its length and back if you are fit! There are occasional beach bars playing mostly local music and serving cold/hot drinks of all kinds and freshly prepared meals. BBQ paella are a lunchtime feature there on Sundays, which is delicious.
Morro Jable is the nearest fishing village. It has romantic waterfront restaurants, banks, laundrette and a large supermarket. You can easily walk there along the beach, along the promenade or take a short taxi / bus ride. Fuerteventura is a duty free port and so perfumeries, jewellers and designer shops are commonplace. There is a supermarket just a few doos down in the complex beneath Palm Garden.
Jandia Playa itself also boasts an impressive array of shops, restaurants bars and discos easily reached from Palm Garden or in the walkway beneath, including a supermarket just a few doors down from the entrance to the apartments. Discos do not open until late.
