Northern England region

The northerly county of Northumberland is a hidden gem of totally unspoilt countryside and wonderful long stretches of pristine sandy beaches.
If you want to stretch your legs and breathe in clean country air this is the place for you, with miles of wide open spaces and magnificent views. The county has three distinct sub regions; a coastline stretching some forty miles with quiet sandy beaches and pretty coastal harbour villages. Inland visitors will find dramatic rolling moorland and forests, much of which is National Park and to the south of the region is the famous Hadrian's Wall which runs coast to coast and is now a World Heritage Site.
Apart from Northumberland's natural assets the county is steeped in history and has had a turbulent past which is characterised by more than its fair share of castles and ancient hill forts, some of which were built to repel Viking invaders. It was also the scene of the border wars and conflicts between the English and Scots in the 14th-16th century.

Morpeth

Situated just 3 miles to the north of the village of Belsay and accessible from Newcastle (15 miles), West View is also within easy distance of Morpeth town and Rothbury village. The Rothbury and Coquetdale area is primarily dominated by scenic and rugged landscape. Amidst this moorland, there are several quaint villages, including Sharpeton, Longframlington, Thropton and Rothbury. The River Coquet meanders through the centre of Rothbury, which is a tranquil town. Aside from a pleasant stroll along the banks of the river, Rothbury's high street boasts several traditional independent shops and a fine selection of country pubs. Outdoor enthusiasts will be tempted to explore the surrounding vicinity of Simonside Hills, Cheviot Hills and Northumberland National Park. Also within the area is the historic market town of Hexham. Prominently featuring a magnificent abbey, this town has a variety of eateries and is within driving distance of all the historic attractions across the Hadrian's Wall country.

5/5

"Comfortable Tranquility"

Ideally placed for those who enjoy an attractive setting that creates a feeling of being lost in a beautiful moorland environment without being too far from centres of interest and local services.
Comfortably decorated and furnished with ample facilities to entertain those who stay during inclement weather but could do with additional hooks etc to service wet clothing, perhaps in the area between the kitchen and the bathroom.
We will return, hopefully as soon as possible.
