About this location
The KwaZulu-Natal region
KwaZulu Natal is a world in one province: to the North of Durban you will find the best of African game reserves and pristine beaches, to the West lie the majestic Drakensberg Mountains and temperate Midlands while to the South there await superb golf courses, fishing spots and miles of subtropical coastline.
Known as the Kingdom of the Zulu, KwaZulu Natal is a melting pot of African, European and Indian cultures. This province boasts two World Heritage Sites, the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park and the majestic Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park. KwaZulu Natal offers superb beaches, sunny weather, game reserves, rolling green hills, numerous sugar cane plantations and relics of the great battles in South African history. There are 8 distinct regions and numerous 'must-see' attractions.
The Durban Metro is more than just the city of Durban with its natural harbour, busy port and Golden Mile of impressive international hotels and glorious beaches - regarded as the definitive coastal 'playground in the sun'. Rather, Durban Metro is a region that extends up to Umhlanga Rocks to the north, to Inchanga and Botha's Hill in the west, and just beyond Yellowwood Park in the south.
Durban offers a diverse and interesting collection of things to do and attractions in and around the third largest city in South Africa, with a climate that arguably places it in top position for all year-round accessibility. Durban is the epitome of East meets West, where a strong Indian influence translates into some of the finest curries in the country; where mosques stand alongside historical Victorian buildings, and all is united by a profusion of subtropical indigenous and exotic trees, shrubs and flowers that need little persuasion to grow effusively.
The outdoors is a major focus and Durban not only boasts the warm Indian Ocean and various water-focused theme parks, like uShaka Marine World, it also functions as the gateway to two World Heritage sites – the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park and the Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park. Just beyond its boundaries, Durban Metro boasts the beautiful Dolphin Coast, and the historical Battlefields, whilst closer to home are the Valley of a Thousand Hills, the Kranzkloof Nature Reserve, and the little towns of Kloof and Hillcrest.

"the only place to stay in Durban"
We have been staying at Lindsay Loft for more than ten years now : usually once a year for a month, but on occasion twice a year. Need I say more?
For us it combines all the comfort and relaxation of being "at home", with the support services of being in an hotel (Bett's legendary domestic help and ironing skill second to none; good wi-fi and also access when needed to recommended outside help - for example when my computer died on me). Easy to get to the beaches and shops and restaurants.
The flat is light and airy and spacious and comfortable. It is sited within a very secure fenced property, and so can be free from the paranoid security arrangements so prevalent elsewhere - so much so that we seldom bother to lock our car.

"A home far away from home"
Lindsay Loft is a lovely place. Has everything a family needs, far away from home. The apartment is spacious and luminous. Past (antique furniture/ paintings/ objects) and present (Wi-fi, TV, Air condition, telephone, modern kitchen) are living there in perfect harmony, assuring all the comfort.
I will never forget the mornings when having a coffee on the terrace I could hear a variety of birds singing, I could see the beautiful garden, also the panorama of the city. The nicest way to start a day.
Caroline and Pepi are the most wonderful hosts, always ready to care for the guests.
I could stay there forever. Thank you.
