We are pleased to say we are the top rated holiday rental in Morillon on Trip Advisor! Chalet Mautalent is a luxury chalet with 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
During the Winter, we offer our guests a tailor made, fully catered holiday for parties of up to 15 people. Chalet Mautalent's traditional Haute-Savoie architecture has enabled us to create a wonderful open plan sitting room and dining room. Our guests' first reactions are normally about the sheer size of this living area.
All bedrooms have a lovely range of Quintessentially English bathroom products. Rooms can be configured as either Twins or King Size Doubles. All beds have super-comfy mattress toppers for that added bit of luxury.
This space is the ideal place to relax in front of a DVD or curl up in the corner and read a book. Guests can check emails on the free WiFi, watch English Sky TV on our plasma screen and plug their iPods into our iPod dock. Our large bootroom works as a ski room in the winter, (with enough space for 15 pairs of skis and 15 spaces on our heated boot rack) and a secure storage space for bikes and other gear in the summer. During winter and summer our guests can also use our brilliant outdoor hot tub.
The chalet is run by The Tasty Ski Company - we are a small family run company with a handful of luxury chalets in Morzine and Le Grand Massif. During the winter The Tasty Ski Company run fully catered chalets meaning breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner (with wine) are included in the price.
Breakfast: We offer both continental and cooked breakfast every morning. A choice of freshly baked croissants and pains aux chocolats, muesli, cereals and yoghurts is available every day. We also offer an additional breakfast special every morning.
Afternoon Tea: A selection of goodies awaits you after a tough day's skiing. Warm up with a tea, coffee, or hot chocolate and tuck into cake.
Dinnerr: A four course feast plus cheese and coffee. We also have vegetarian and children's menus available on request, and early meals for children can be provided.
The chalet is located 900 metres from the Morillon cable car and is a 7 minute walk from the centre of town. We are 100 metres from the free ski shuttle bus stop but guests can also take advantage of our private driver service. The service is available between 8.30am – 10am and 3pm – 7pm. This service provides unlimited journeys into Morillon during these times.
During the Summer, we offer our chalet on a self-catered basis for groups of up to 12 people. Exclusive occupancy of the chalet must be taken.
Guests can enjoy our breakfast terrace which catches the morning sun and also our outdoor barbecue. The chalet is south facing meaning the garden catches the sun throughout the day and into the early evening.

The Grand Massif region
Morillon lies in the centre of a wide glacial valley through which flows the River Giffre. It is one of nine satellite hamlets that are scattered over the forested slopes, with each town or village having a chapel surmounted by a graceful onion-shaped spire. The area is famed for its natural beauty and spectacular scenery.
The Grand Massif is a fantastic snow sure skiing area with 265 km of pisted slopes. Despite being relatively off the beaten tourist track, it has the same amount of pisted slopes as better know resorts such as Val d’Isere. The Grand Massif holds one of the best snow records in the French Alps thanks to it’s numerous north facing slopes, its proximity to Mont Blanc, and its state of the art artificial snow making equipment (128 snow canons in all).
There are three state of the art snow parks in the Grand Massif for snowboarders and free style skiers that range in difficulty from beginner right through to expert. The park in Morillon is designed for children and beginners, Samoens caters for intermediates, and the snow park in Flaine has rails, tables, big air jumps and half pipes for all ability levels.
If downhill skiing isn’t for you but you enjoy other winter outdoor activities then the Grand Massif has much to offer. There are two ice-skating rinks within a short distance of Chalet Mautalent, with the the rink in Morillon being just 300 metres down the road and Samoens ice rink being only 2km away. There are also 80kms of beautiful cross-country skiing trails, and for the super adventurous there is ice climbing, ski mountaineering and dog sledging on offer.
The Morillon valley is simply stunning in the Summer months.
Popular outdoor Summer activities include mountain biking, swimming, visiting leisure parks, road cycling, rock climbing, horse-riding, trampolining, fishing, potholing, high- wire tree climbing, mountain trekking and paragliding. We are also lucky enough at Chalet Mautalent to be situated just 200 metres from the local tennis courts, 200 metres from a mini-golf course, and 500 metres from the famous Lac-Bleu (a beautiful lake where you can go swimming and sunbathe).
Chalet Mautalent is 800m from Morillon village centre, 2km from the town of Samoens, and 1km from a Carrefour supermarket. There are excellent local markets in Samoens on Wednesday morning and in Morillon on Friday afternoon. There is even a very small market at the corner of the roundabout just 150 metres from the chalet on a Friday morning, and a rotisserie at the same roundabout on a Sunday.
The town of Samoens dates back to the 13th century, with this "ville fleurie" being distinguished as one of the prettiest towns in France. There is a wonderful botanical garden that gives a panoramic view of the valley, a gothic church, medieval squares, timber-fronted patisseries and a 1940s cinema. Morillon is a newer village but has become a base for a vast number of outdoor activities in the valley, centred around the "Lac Bleu," a beautiful lake that is just a 3 minute walk from Chalet Mautalent.
For further information about the area and activities available, we advise our guests to visit the newly updated Morillon tourism office website (http://www.ot-morillon.fr/en/summer/index.htm) that is available in both French and English.
