Hirdre Isaf is recently renovated and tastefully decorated to a very high standard by the current owners.
The accommodation is laid out over 2 floors. There are 3 bedrooms all with new beds, bedroom suites and bed linen (provided). All bedrooms have superb views.
The master bedroom comprises a double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The second bedroom has twin beds and a modern set of wardrobes and chest of drawers. Finally there is a third bedroom which houses a single bed with truckle underneath to enable it to be made into a twin room. There is a fitted cupboard and chest of drawers. The bathroom is modern with a new suite, bath with electric shower over and curved shower screen, toilet and basin. A large towel warmer/radiator heats the room making this a cosy retreat!
The light and airy landing is a feature of the cottage and opens to open stairs down into the living area.
The living room has 2 modern sofas and an additional comfy chair surrounding a feature fireplace and inset coal-effect fire. There is a TV with DVD player. A door opens out into the patio/garden. Adjacent to the living area is a fully fitted kitchen/diner with cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and sandwich maker. The rustic kitchen table is a great place to socialise after a long day on the beach!
Laundry facilities are provided in an annex which contains a washing machine and dryer plus plenty of storage space for bikes etc and drying space for wetsuits and children's clobber!
The farmhouse is ideal for winter holidays with full oil-fired central heating (£20 extra per week) and plenty of extra blankets provided for chilly nights!
Families are very well catered for with the option of a cot, high chair and also an all-terrain buggy all included in the rental so you don't have to over-pack the car!
All facilities and electricity are included in the price.
|Further details outdoors|
The outside facilities at Hirdre Isaf are perfect for couples and families alike. There is a self-contained patio accessed from the living room with a patio set, sun loungers and a BBQ. Beyond the patio/terrace is a large grass area of garden with a trampolene which is ideal for ball-games and all kinds of children's activities. There is an outside toilet which is popular with children and husbands when the bathroom is in use! The toilet also has a shower area which is ideal on return from the beach.
There is ample parking for cars and boats.
The farm also has a small recognised caravan/campsite so your friends and family can also visit (if you want them to!)
Hidre Isaf is a country retreat, there are no nearby neighbours and the surrounding countryside is spectacular. The garden is an ideal place in which to relax.
Regrettably we do not accept pets as we are a working farm and our animals' welfare is our main priority.
We have a check in time of 2pm and we ask that guests check out by 10am to allow us time to clean.
We do offer short-breaks, prices for less than 7 nights are available on application.
We prefer that you check in on a Saturday but other days may be available out of season by negotiation.
The North Wales region
Hirdre Isaf is situated on the North Coast of the Llŷn Peninsula, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which stretches out into the Irish Sea from the Northwest of Wales in Great Britain. Llŷn retains a unique Welsh charm and character also enjoys a unique micro-climate, benefiting from the gulf stream, bringing warmer weather and higher sea temperatures.
The Llŷn Peninsula lies on the north-west corner of Wales, dividing Cardigan Bay (to the south) and Caernarfon Bay (to the north). Being three sides surrounded by the sea, you are never short of a sheltered beach and the climate is relatively mild with few or no frost in the winter. To the east are the mountains of Snowdonia, the highest mountain range in the UK south of the Scottish Highlands.
The peninsula stretches out around 30 miles into the Irish Sea and is only around 8 miles wide for much of it's length. Being west of the mountains and in the Gulf Stream, Llŷn enjoys a mild, drier climate than that of the rest of Wales. During the winter there are few or no frosts, but the snow on the mountains in the distance is a beautiful sight.
Around the peninsula's nearly 100 miles of coastline, there are sweeping bays, small coves and rocky cliffs as well as islands, reefs (like Sarn Badrig in northern Cardigan Bay) and impressive headlands. Inland there is rolling countryside with small communities and a friendly welcome
The peninsula has it's own range of hills, the most prominent of which is in the north east, where the sharp peaks of Yr Eifl form the highest point on the peninsula at 564 metres high and even more sharply slope down into the waters of Caernarfon Bay below.
Pwllheli is the main town for the peninsula (less than 10 miles from Hidre Isaf) with it's bustling weekly market it is the centre of the community here on Llŷn. Other towns include Aberdaron, Abersoch, Criccieth, Nefyn (closest) and Porthmadog.
Annually there are many festivals (Wakestock being amongst the most famous) and also walking events which make the area popular to visit.
Hirdre Isaf is situated on the outskirts of Edern which has a general stores/post office and pub/restaurant. Probably more popular for family meals is the Lion at Tudweiliog (1 mile away) which is an attraction for people throughout North Wales for it's ales and good food.
The closest town is Nefyn with it's famous golf course and the Llyn Historical and Maritime museum. Originally a fishing village, Nefyn was where Edward I celebrated his conquest of Wales in 1284 and the village was granted a royal charter by the Black Prince in 1355. This beautiful part of Wales attracts outdoor enthusiasts both for its coastal walks and beaches. You can climb Yr Eifl (the forks) for breathtaking views over Caernarfon Bay. This is also the site of Tre’r Ceiri (Town of Giants) one of the finest Iron Age forts in the country surrounded by a stone wall which once enclosed 150 huts.

"Comfortable, homely cottage set in beautiful country surrounds"
The cottage was well-equipped, beautifully decorated and a welcome place to rest after long days on the beach. Set on a working farm, freshly laid eggs were available on arrival and the kids loved meeting the animals! Having access to a garden and trampoline was a definite plus. The owners were lovely and friendly and made the whole family feel welcome.
