Summer Cottage
About the home
A peaceful Cotswolds country retreat uniquely situated in Northwick Park, near Blockley, the former estate of the Spencer -Churchill family. Surrounded by the 35 acres of formal gardens, rose gardens, ponds and parkland of this private estate which abound with wildlife including deer, pheasants, squirrels, ducks, moorhens, koi carp, woodpeckers and many more species of birds, this cottage is in an exceptional location not accessible to the general public. Northwick Park has featured several times on the BBC programme ' Escape to the Country' where it was described as 'a very special location'. My Cotswolds stone cottage conversion is perfect for 2 couples sharing, families, romantic breaks or just friends looking for a peaceful break in the country to get away from it all. If there are just the two of you, we are offering late availability breaks at a discounted rate - please ask for details. The perfect location for walkers, cyclists, artists, bird watchers, wildlife enthusiasts, history buffs, National Trust members and RHS garden visitors. Shoppers will also delight in the many gift shops, boutiques and antique shops in the surrounding market towns and the larger commercial centres of Cheltenham and Stratford on Avon.
Approached over a long private drive, this light and spacious luxury 2 bedroom/2bathroom cottage conversion is perfectly situated to enjoy touring the local area. This comfortable Cotswold retreat is in a traffic-free, private and exclusive location which has featured several times on the BBC programme "Escape to the Country". Enjoy a week, week-end break or mid-week break - our changeover days are flexible.
Furnished with quality furniture, beds, curtains and carpets throughout, with a fully-equipped kitchen, the cottage with its real flame gas fire is perfect for all year round enjoyment. Summer Cottage is our 'second home' and we have decorated and furnished it as a home-from-home with love and care for our own enjoyment and that of our guests. The usual comment we get when inviting people in is "what a lovely feeling this cottage has - we just want to kick our shoes off and relax on the sofa". The whole experience from booking to arrival, the stay and return of security deposit made easy. All corespondence was to the point and well timed. A well equiped clean and spaceous, tastefully decorated property located in private estate, central to many of the Cotswolds fine attractions. Pleasant and attractive grounds for walks with wildlife in abundance. Overall an excellent property in which we felt at home immediately with the welcoming goodies provided. A property that we would thoroughly reccomend. |

My niece and I had a lovely stay in the Summer Cottage. The cottage was nicely furnished, spotless, and very well supplied. Our hosts left treats for us. The cottage has two outdoor spaces and the estate grounds are lovely. The cottage is well situated for exploring the Cotswolds, and within easy distance to the theaters in Stratford. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer. Response: Thank you so much for your glowing review and I am delighted that you and your niece enjoyed your stay at Summer Cottage so much. I do aim to please so have now added WIFI (from November 2011) to the long list of facilities at Summer Cottage. |

We have made numerous trips to the UK with at least one or two visits each year for the past twenty years. The Cotswold's is a favorite destination in conjunction with time in London and we were completely thrilled by the setting and accommodations at "Summer Cottage". Booking details were easily arranged and confirmed and Lesley was very kin din allowing us to book a nine day stay. Upon arrival we were more than pleased by the cleanliness, comfort and obvious attention to so many details that insured us of a memorable stay. The petite walled garden is a lovely oasis in any season as are the extensive estate grounds which are superb for walking. The town of Blockley is one mile away and has a lovely town shop where the manager Chris makes everyone feel welcome. All daily newspapers, post, and cafe with free wi-fi made it a daily stop for us. The Great Western Arms pub serves creative fare in a comfortable setting with a separate barroom and garden area. Summer Cottage was the perfect base for exploring the hidden gems of the Cotswold's with visits to Tetbury - Highgrove, Cheltenham, and the Michelin Stared dining room at old favorite Lords of The Manor in Upper Slaughter. We look forward to a return visit to "Summer Cottage" in 2012. |
